Spray on Wax?

Specifically, I blow off most of the water with my AirWand and then spritz on the QD before doing the final drying...wondering how AW/OCW would work for this.

One of the nice things about the QDs I'm currently using is that they seem 100% Accumulator-proof.

OCW is a spray on wax, Optimum Instant Detailer is the QD in the range, have you tried it ?

Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer provides unsurpassed slickness & gloss in one simple application. Can be used on wet or dry surfaces. Can be used to clean light dust and dirt. This is also environmentally friendly.

Comes in 17 oz. ready to go bottle, plus 32 oz. and Gallon sizes that are concentrated.

The 32 oz. bottle will make a gallon of instant dealer and the Gallon size will make 4 gallons!!!

love OCWv2 but never got the same feeling using AW :( I have a sample bottle of it but it didnt seem to add as much as OCW so havent really used it much since....

I really love the 'spray' products whether wax or sealant. IMHO many get too carried away with the need to use paste products all the time. There's a place, and everyone has different needs etc, but for a car washed each week and well maintained, I honestly think that a regular, fast, spray wax/sealant is perfect. In winter I put on a few layers of a very durable paste, over a durable sealant, but otherwise OCW or similar every couple of washes is fast and keep my vehicles looking better than new :D

The spreading it around with a foam applicator is how Mike P recommends you do it.

hehehe, just makes entirely no sense to me...........Why not use a sealant then? Why is it in a spray bottle? Ya know what I mean?

Patrick!!! Good to see you! Isn't that also the app method for that awful NXT spray wax? Spray it on, rub it in with an applicator...wait for it to haze, and buff off? As you said, why not just use regular NXT? IMO that whole thing was just a way to explain away an awful product. I stopped paying attention to all those Meg's sprays after I bit on the UQD hype and it killed my beading. Then I realized I was supposed to shake it up...and then it was about the same as AW...

dervdave- People whom I seem in-synch with didn't like the Optimum QD as well as the stuff I'm using now, so I'm pretty much sold on my current QDs (SpeedShine, FK425, FK146, #34...all have their place).

MichaelM- Thanks for the feedback, you make the OCW sound promising.

Dsoto87- Other than an elderly friend's old Audi and a Jag Club pal's showcar, I only do my own vehicles; I'm *not* a pro.

And nah, I'm gonna hold onto my FK425 ;)

I love Souveran spray wax! It does look amazing, tight beading, can be used to boost a current LSP or applied on its own.

I was hoping for big things from Mothers new California Gold Spray wax, it never seemed to come here though.

My two cents is that spray wax really depends on what you need... as most products.

For me, in the brutal South Florida sun, wax doesn't last very long. I normally end up using a paint sealant in order to ensure that the paint is protected. Over the sealant I then layer on a good wax.

I'm starting to use a spray wax to extend the period between deep cleaning/waxing. My paste wax, that was put on by hand, ensures the car is coated well. The spray wax refreshes and gives protection but probably doesn't give as thorough a covering.

I guess if you have the time or want to experiment you can use an applicator pad and do it. Maybe I will just to see the difference, but I am thinking I am going to stick with the 'spray and wipe' method.

Never know though....

Not a problem bud :bigups

But I`m gonna throw another one into the ballpark, Ultima QD

I`ve had a 4oz sample bottle over a year but never used it till this morning and found it unreal, the slickness is out of this world (the car cover would`nt stay on the car, it kept sliding off )

No smearing on black, really good finish, only thing is I`m not to sure of its antistatic qualitys because there was a canny layer of dust after a 70 mile run.

Its worth a try because it doesn`t seem to get mentioned much.

From what I undestand it's pretty much FX re-bottled for a different market.

Try the FX and you'll get similar results. Try the Reflections and I think you'll love it a bit more. Both are great.
