Hey guys; working on the pics now but I thought I'd post up a little "teaser", this is what I was greeted with in the AM. It was a long day.

Trust me, they were worse than they look. :nervous2:

Looks like it was just buffed:buffing: by a hack-a-wack:grinno:

I did a black one like that months ago and it was a pain, but it did come out excellent.

I wish you the best of luck:2thumbs:

Perhaps... :p

more befores, I should have taken more, the roof, rear deck, rear quarters; they were all equally as bad. I honestly haven't seen halograms like this in a long time, maybe ever. I think you would have to *TRY* to screw something up this this.

The PTG was reading reasonably, a little low but not so low that I was concerned with failure. The halo's seemed to coincide with deeper marring, I guess the guy who used the rotary on it was trying to really lean into some of the scratches.

Anyway, this car is owned by a dealer, the car has been with him since January, hasn't sold, I met him today through a friend, very nice guy...

So, I hit it with:

HTEC+#80/yellow @ 1800

HTSC (soft cut)/white @ 1500

106ff/white @ 1300

Clearkote RMG

Souveran

Afters of the hood.

Questions? Comments? Stupid Ottawa couldn't win the cup for Canada?

Amazing work as usual Kevin! Out of all the cars I have done I have yet to do a modern vette and have never worked with their notorious hard clear! I have probably asked a million times, and I think you have said you use auto, but what settings are you using?!? I love your shots! I just got my Nikon D40x DLSR and want to photograph like you!!! :)

Hey man, I just did a C5 vette today and couldnt even dent the clearcoat with Megs #4 or ssr3 with LC orange or yellow pads, I moved upwards of 2000rpm!

The clear is redardedly hard, but it scratches easy, but doesnt correct easy. LOL another GREAT move by GM.

It is so hard because they had to switch to a VOC compliant catalst for the clear in 97. Ever since then, you are SOL.

So tell me, are the pics hiding something? Did the HTEC really cut and the 106ff really take out the haze? Im speechless if so. How many passes did you do?

I had to tuck my tail in between my legs today and tell my client I COULDNT correct his paint. (A 99 black C5 with 8 years of neglect, but plently of clear to work with...)

I really want to know how you did that...

ahhh damn that thing is crazy. very nice job. people like you are an inspiration as to why i take so much pride in keep my car and others clean.

Wow those swirls and hologram look pretty nasty to me  Wonderful work on the vette, the car looks so wet and deep, especailly with RMG + PS :2thumbs: . Btw I think you mean 106ff rather 105ff :) .
