Six Way LSP test

image1bv8.jpg

Very cool of you to test this out, TH. I was thinking you could test the poor-man's Concours and either test out Pinnacle Souveran or the concours look P21S, since some of the other LSPs you are applying are high-end products, what about the wannabes. :)

...and keep in mind that engine heat influences the LSPs. My hood always shows the first signs of decreasing LSP performance where the exhaust header & cat is located.

Dang...that guy Bence...always one step ahead! Good thinking about what might skew the results!

ide like to see swissvax or p21s... but you can go with seniority and take whatever any of the other guys want. If we are going with seniority i think scottwax should get his done, lol.

I can divide the hood into eight sections if you want and test more products vs. eachother.

I don't have Swissvax products, PS21, JetSeal, but if anybody wanted to throw samples out there I will make room for them.

If not I'll pick up some Duragloss (since I can get it by tomorrow) or I can wait and try a bunch of other stuff.

Let me know.

Another vote for JetSeal, AJT, or Opti-seal. Also a recommendation for a soap that is not as harsh, maybe Duraglos 901 since it is widely used, readily available, and relatively inexpensive.

Why stop at the hood, TH, you could whore out the rest of your car and do the hood and top of the trunk etc to test out more products. Man, this is going to be epic! Hall of fame thread for sure! Your pictures and videos will be Autopia legend.

I'd like you to give fireglaze Plus double strength a go on the hood.

It stands the test of time best of any sealant for me.

Is 1oz or so of jetseal enough for your test? i hate giving too much of this away since jetseal is so expensive.

My vote goes to the Werkstatt line being added to the test. (AJT...but would one need a base of prime for a fair comparison?

Off topic but in a slightly similar vein,

I worked as a Ski tech for a while, and at one of the seminars on tuning ski's, the instructor was demonstrating a variety of waxes on one ski.

He divided the ski into thirds from tip to tail. Top third got the cheapest shop wax, middle got the midrange consumer wax, the very bottom third got the highest quality wax. (this was soposeofly the type various olympians use on their downhill/time trial runs; it came in an embarassingly small container, and he 'dusted' it on incredibly light coat, almost looked like talc. . . . (and more expensive than gold dust per oz!)

Anyhow, Long story short,

He tipped the ski at a slight angle, and dropped a single drop onto the tip of the ski. It immediatly beaded up, proceded to slide down the ski...as it hit the middle patch it sped up noticebly. Finally, it hit the highest quality waxed area...and zipped at an even higher speed speed right off the ski. (was going to say tremendous speed, but decided not to risk hyperbole)

I guess it could just be marketing mumble jumble but it was an impressive demo to see. Not sure if a droplet of water sliding down the hood would help determine the 'best' slickness/protection.

I would imagine that if it goes on as thin as Zaino, 1 oz would be too much. Since I'm only going to do 1/6 of my hood for two coats, I would guess that 1/4 of OZ would still be plenty, if not less.

Sounds like acceleration due to gravity, to me.
