So, as I'm sure some of you have noticed, I've been attacking my six year old 85,000 mile S2000 in stages. Some wetsanding, some headlight polishing, etc. I could attack the beat up front bumper and lip spoiler, but... *shrug* I'm not enthused
WELL... I've finally polished out the whole thing - not entirely to my satisfaction, but you have to accept it at some point. The repainted areas on this car are HARD HARD HARD. I don't know what's up with that. I guess that's a good thing, since I've finally gotten it pretty welll corrected to my satisfaction.
general processes
- wetsanding (1500/2000 3M) in spots for scratches and touchups (trunklid, spoiler) and full areas (driver's side)
- Optimum Hyper Compound via rotary or PC and light/cutting pad
- Menzerna 106FF/RMG mix (70/30) via rotary (finishing pad) or PC (polishing pad)
- Klasse AIO (in the case of the driver's door - Z2Pro) and 1-2 coats of Souveran
- 303 on tires (and top), you'll notice the driver's rear is shinier - I sprayed and wiped down all the tires with 303, but this rear I sprayed again the next day and let the 303 soak in overnight. What you see is the result - a little shiny, but dark and even. I like. I used a 4oz pump sprayer that atomizes very well and wiped off the next day to prevent any sort of sling.
It's ALL in the prep, I tell you. Here are a few shots from today...
and a few more below...
