SilverStars

It doesnt say that they are 50 state legal on their site. But it does state to contact the warranty department if they burn out.

I have the Silver stars in both of my trucks. have had zero problems so far. much better than the stock bulbs. the 91 has Hella H4 conversion. my fog's and driving lights are PIAA.

I have had Silverstars in my 98 S-10 for well over two years now. One blew out after a year so I bought another pair and have yet to replace another bulb. I see better with these compared to the OEM replacements (Sylvania in most S-series). Anything reflective showed up much quicker with the Silverstars. I have to disagree with the Consumer Report and believe it is because their sample included too few cars. I can see just as well with my Silverstar low beams as I can with my OEM high beams.

Im trying to decide on new bulbs and have it narrowed down to Philips ExtremeVision or Silverstars. Anyone ever used the Philips bulbs?

Stick with the Philips Vision Plus or Osram Silverstars. Both are excellent bulbs.

Why do people believe any tests that are done by Consumers Reports?

Did anyone agree with the results of their car wax test?

I lost all faith in CR in 1970 when they tested a Hemi Cuda and the best they could do use a 15 second quarter mile.

Forgive me, as I didn't read this whole thread. However, my two cents on SilverStars. They are great for a stock, legal upgrade to your headlights. If all you want is maximum and attractive lighting in a stock wattage, stock size, legal bulb, they are the way to go. But it's at the expense of money and long life. I much prefer Sylvania XtraVision bulbs as they have similar bright light, are only slightly less white, and last much longer, about 5-10 times longer depending on the bulb (according to Sylvania's hour ratings for them).

I wanted XtraVisions for my 'vette, but the dang local Sylvania retailer never would stock them, and my OEM headlights were terrible. Here is the Silverstar 6054 on the left, and the regular Wagner 6054 on the right:

My headlights went from being pretty poor to being acceptable. Flip up lights generally suck, and the Corvette is no exception, but the SilverStars help make them passable.

I've tried the Phillips Vision Plus, pretty good bulbs but the Osram Silverstars are noticably brighter with a longer and wider beam pattern. My car uses the 9003/H4 bulbs so other size bulbs might perform differently.
