Sal Zaino on Carnauba wax

Yeah, National Sales Manager-Automotive for 4 years, then 2 years a General Sales Manager for almost 4 years.
Cool! Any other pearls of knowledge about FK you'd like to share? We're open to be schooled about FK products that don't get much attention these days.

That is because when Floyd got in a pissing contest with his uncles, left and started Finish Kare.

They sued him for use of his "own name" and could not even sign a letter using his last name for a few years until a higher court threw out the ruling.

When I redesigned the automotive labels he pitched a *****, since the new one's did not have his crest and initials included.

Took a while to get him to cool down and understand that the market we were reaching didn't care about his ego, but products and if the label said what was in the bottle and stood out on the shelf.

Shortly after I had the last screwing from him I could stand, he changed many of the labels back to his 1960's style.

Not much there anymore, after his passing, his daughter took it over, pretty much ran the mold release and automotive in the ground, sold it to JJ.

He got the mold release back on it's feet, but mainly went after private label business for automotive.

Then he got someone to take over sales and marketing of the auto line, which I guess was not as profitable as they thought.

Seems they have faded from the consumer market over that past 4 years.

That's kinda sad. But hey, it was important enough to him. I bet you just threw up your hands and muttered "whatever" ( among other things not suitable for a G-rated audience;) ) under your breath.

Not often, I usually made a to his face remark regarding how his mother slept under the porch at night, or his sexual perverion with his mother.

LOL!

Ron Ketcham- Any info on FK146? I'm using it more and more as a post-wash QD, seems almost like an idiot-proof spray sealant at least on some vehicles.

Jeez! Freud would've been all over that one! :chuckle:

It is an upgrade of resins from the 145.

Personally, I don't care for it, didn't when I worked there.

Old technolgy and old resins.

Try the Fast Finish you have heard me chat about, it will blow you away.

I'll send you a PM shortly.

Ive used Fast Finish as a drying agent/ spray on LSP as you dry, but that was when I dried completely by using MFs. If one is using a blower to mostly dry, you might want to spray it on as a post-dry enhancer. It is a rather unique spray LSP type product.

Thanks Ron. :D

Why all the PMing? I'm feeling a bit left out. :(

I was actually asking about product info you'd recommend and why. Fast Finish sounds interesting...what's special about it?

Ron Ketcham- Roger that on the "resins" in FK146, that's kinda what I'd expected.

Oh geeze...so FF is better huh...and me with all this FK146. Sheesh, between the FF, bug pads, and ETR I'm gonna spend some money at AI sooner or later :o

FF is a Valugard product. It's a spray-LSP/QD product. One of the most distinctive characteristics about it I found is that really does seems "hydrophobic" When I sprayed it on a finish I was drying, it repelled the water and made the drying process with the towel easier and quicker. It leaves a nice gloss and it's pretty slick. You can use it to just QD too. I didn't have the FK QD at the same time I had FF, and although FK isn't really a spray-on LSP type of product ,like FF is, I want to see how the two compare. Gloss, slickness, but even more importantly for me, lack of streaking and hazing, are important qualities. I recall FF doing rather well with all of those.

Thanks Bill.

Excuse my ignorance, but it AI related to FK somehow, or a completely different company Ron was also associated with?

Hope Ron doesn't mind my answering for him: he worked for both Finish Kare and Automotive International. Take it away, Ron.....

Not ignoring you, but since there is no distributor for ValuGard I am aware of, it would be very expensive to ship over to Aussie Land.

You could email beth at AI and ask her if they have someone there now, I am not aware since been retired from the company for over 3 years.

The Valugard site does have a link to an online store. It's on the far right hand side--even it's just for USA distribution.
