Safe to leave on Quick Detailer?

I've needed to use a quick detailer (4* UGE) "on the road" a few times recently to quickly wipe up bird poo.

Of course, on the road, and particularly in the dark, I can't be sure the hood is free of dirt or grit, so I try to just spray the QD over the bird poop and, as gently as possible, wipe up the mess in a microfiber cloth. This leaves QD overspray around the area--so the question is: is it safe to leave QD on overnight or longer?

I figure it should be safe, just won't look great until I can properly wash it. But anything's better than bird poo etching the paint, right?

What do you do?

yes.. theres always going to be overspray on the car. if not from u're own products than from something else out on the road. either way qd is meant to be rubbed in and left on the finish. the worst thing that could happen is that it leaves streaks or overspray marks that are hard to buff off without a washing or MORE qd...

Just try not to rub the MF to hard when wiping off bird stuff . Hard bird droppings can scratch the paint ..turn over your towel on the second pass.

This is a good thing. I recently dialed in a Lexus IS300. The owner never cleaned bird poo off his car it sat there for about three weeks or longer. When I received the car the bird poo ate right though the paint. There were about four to five spots all over the car. I have been told that Lexus mixes their clear with their paint when they paint their cars. I not sure if this was part of the problem. You also shouldn’t leave it on your paint that long either.

Just to follow-up... next day took a good look at where I'd QD'ed and wiped up the bird poo. No poo damage, no apparent scratches, and no QD residual. Yay!

Just a noticably dust-free and clean section of hood. :)

It's amazing the contrast. The dust doesn't really "show", but is sure obvious when part of the same panel is just QD'ed.
