Roadfly's wax review / test

While we look at using the same hood and exposing it all to the same conditions as a control, the environment poses an endless combinations of factors affecting the results. Like Scott, I live in an area where this incredibly low amounts of pollution, no acid rain, no fallout from industry or railroads, etc. As such I can get my coat of P21S to last longer than most people just because of the environment. Anyways, I think it is great to have more relatively empirical studies regarding these waxes and hopefully we will begin to reach some sort of precision between these tests.
 
Meanwhile... Thanks, Geekysteve, for conducting the kind of scientific test that few (if any) of us have the knowledge or discipline to conduct. And thanks for your willingness to share your results. :bigups

How do you 'maintain' it? Do you QD with WG or any other brand after every wash, or 2 washes? You maintenance regimen will have a large impact on the durability of any product.

speedracer, I got add my comments to BillNorth, who is 100% correct in saying that your GD habits will go a long way to enhance the durability of any product you're using. I know this is true from personal experience. I got Meguiar's No. 20 to keep beading for a year, on both my Taurus and my wife's previous car, a 1995 Ford Contour, by using M-34 Final Inspection after each wash, including every trip through the commercial touchless car washes in the winter. One now ex-next-door-neighbor bet me I couldn't keep the finish beading water a year after waxing and detailing with No. 20, and he got extremely pissed off when he lost the bet.

A million pennies?!?!?!? I only bet a six pack of MGD....and the clown wouldn't pay up either!!!!

I notice this with Elm Trees. I dont care what kind of wax or sealant you use and if you did the car yesterday if you park under a Elm tree and it rains for 6 hrs. or more the beads are gone. After a wash the beads will come back but while its raining "no beads". I use Q.D. all the time that the only way that I can think of that will maintain the slickness and beads.

Maybe he hasn't been on line since he posted his comments. Give the man some time.



On the cars I have WG on, I purposely do not use the QD on the roofs as a large control panel. So far, the roofs bead as long as the rest of the cars and is only marginally less slick.
 
Speaking of WG, i found it to be a nice product. But only average durability. I have found better results with BFPP or PUPP.....I probably wont be using it again......

Im actually getting better wear out of NXT than WG. I got maybe 4 weeks max out of WG. In my scenarios4-6 weeks is about average for a polymer. Consider the fact that people in my area do no more than bi-monthly washes at the corner hand wash, not good maintenance practices. So if i get 6 weeks, im tickeled......If i get 8, im way happy....So to answer your question...4-6 weeks......

Now if its my own car, i can easily get 8-10 weeks.....But i didnt with WG....but did with BF and PUPP.......Im on week 6 with NXt now, signs of wear but average wear....Still beading, and still some slickness.......
