I agree with you 100% that the fibers do get rougher with time, but the point I was making was, at least with the wool pads I own, A sheepskin with have to be very heavily worn and have received little to no care to get to the thickness and tuffs of thick hair on the wool pad.
I would hate to wash my car with a wool buffing pad, its very thick and hard. The hair fibers on wool pads, for lack of a better word, are like dreads lol.
I am not arguing that the shmitt is not a nice tool, because it is! My favorite thing about it is the fact that it doesn't shed. Ok, and close second being the yellow backing on it for the lower panels.
