Product: Power Puff Multi-Purpose Handheld Sponge

Price & Price Per Ounce: $2.97 + tax

Manufacturer Claims: The PowerPuff's patented design gently scrubs the sides while scouring the bottom. Easily rinses clean and does not promote the growth of bacteria. Our NEW fast-drying, long lasting scrubbing sponge is ideal for mugs, carafes, cups, dishes, cookware, and more!

Packaging: Just a simple laminated paper tag that is easily removed. The acutal item is very sturdy and about 8" long.

Color/Scent/Viscosity: White plastic handle with blue rubber grips for easy handling. The yellow scrubber is VERY similar to a bug scrubber in texture and performance. The blue scouring pad on the bottom reminds me of a softer version of a scotchbrite pad.

How I used (as per instructions): No instructions on wheel cleaning here. I hosed down the wheel with cool water, sprayed Meguiar's Wheel Brightener cut 2:1 generously on the surface, allowed 2 minutes of dwell time, then proceeded to dip the Power Puff in a dilution of car wash and agitate the areas. Only a few quick motions were needed to easily wisk away the horrid brake dust.

Overall Thoughts: I love it.

For ~$3 you really can't beat it. I've tried the OXO and Meguiar's Spoke Brushes and didn't like them. I have done 11 sets of wheels to date and the brush nearly looks the same. I cut the yellow part slightly, twice, on brake caliper clips (my fault). It rinses so clean, that you can go right from scrubbing the wheel to cleaning the wells.

This product has easily replaced my bug scrubber for wheel/well cleaning duties. No more cut hands, no more chemicals wreaking havoc on your skin. Truly a great find, IMO.

Other Notes: Repurchase every 15-20 sets of wheels for an optimal cleaning experience.

Questions/Comments, fire away.

Hey,

Looks like a great item, and cheap too. I have a question though, does it scrub off really tough caked on dust? With alot of effort or minimal? Is the WB the product you would reccomend?

Thanks in advance, and great review,

Ben

whitejava: I was pretty surprised how effective it was. Meguiar's Wheel Brightener is a potent product, so be careful, but yes, it works very well.

Mach: Zaino Z16 x 2

Sean, does it make any noticable scratches? Do you only use it on the inside of the wheel or the face as well. Also, do you use WB on the wells as well or something else?

Sorry for all the questions.

BigO: Household cleaning.

audicoupej: Nope. Most wheels today are lacquered. I tested it under halogens on an audi wheel using the blue scouring piece and it left no marring. I use it for the entire wheel.

I use WB only on the wheels; TOL Tire Cleaner on the tires/wells.

It's hard to tell from the picture, is it a typical sponge material or is it stiff like a pot scrubber? I have a couple of drinking glass brushes that are similar but I've always been afraid to use them on painted wheels because a CD test showed they really scratched badly.

Leo: The yellow part is like a bug scrubber, which are sold through TOL and a couple other online retailers.

The blue part is like a finer version of a scotchbright pad.

As I mentioned, most wheels out there are lacquered, not painted. The lacquer is very strong. I used it rather rigorously on an Audi wheel and then put it under halogens; no marring.

As long as you use normal care, I don't forsee damage.

A side note; I only use this BEHIND the spokes on my personal vehicles. The faces only need a sheepskin mitt and soapy water.

I went out and bought a two of these brushes a few weeks ago.

They work great. I actually just dip it in QEW and wipe my 9 spoke stock Wellington's with them.

These brushes carry alot of brake dust out and they rinse quickly and well in my rinse bucket.

Thanks G35Stilez!

Great review. And at that price it is very affordable. :2thumbs:

Any after pictures of the sponge however? I can't see that sponge standing up to more than a few wheel washes.

I have used one based on Sean's recommendations. Its a great little brush for the money. Based on its size it really gets the inner part of the wheel between the caliper and rim. Very east to control as well.

For the money it can't be beat.

Glad everyone is finding good fortune with this brush :D.

I have two on reserve for when my current ones go.
