Reviewed: Power Puff Wheel & Spoke Brush

Great find. I need to get one.

I have a question for you Sean, on that Mazda 3 in the picture, do you notice that the rear wheels get a lot more brake dust than the fronts? My wife's 3 has that problem.

Yep. Thought it was from a recent tire rotation...Guess not :nixweiss

G35stilez- That looks similar to the Quickee Sponge Mops that I use, except the Quickees don't have the scrubber material on the bottom.

How is the foam attached to the handle? On the Quickees it's held by a steel loop and you have to be careful that the loop doesn't poke through and cause some serious marring.

It's glued on.

I'm still surprised that this stuff won't scratch because it feels hard and plasticky. But I guess Sean did the research...

Accumulator: Yep, glued.

I have used it with Meguiar's Wheel Brightener, P21s Wheel Cleaner, Dawn, and Z7. I have yet to see any of the material pull away from the wand.

MDRX8: Did you pick one up yet?

For my personal vehicles, I only use this for the inner *rim*, so behind the spokes. For the outer face (the pretty part), I use an older sheepskin mit. My wheels never get dirty enough to warrant the use of this tool on the entire wheel.

No I haven't seen one yet. Glad you guys can use them. The back of my rims are not visible. Keep um klean.......

Same here... :2thumbs:

I picked up a couple of these today and of course it's now raining. I do have a noob question though. When washing my wheels, I usually rinse them off and wash with water and NXT car wash soap. What is the benefit of using a wheel cleaner? I wash the car weekly so I never have any real buildup. I figured the brush and car wash soap would provide the necessary cleaning. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Wheel cleaners are typically for neglected wheels.

If your wheels come clean with just car soap and water, that's a good thing. Wheel cleaners are used when car soap is not enough to remove the dirt and brake dust. Cleaning your wheels on a regular basis is the best way to ensure that a wheel cleaner will not be necessary.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Guess I'll keep doing what I've been doing. Another example of how preventative maintenance makes life a little easier.

Mine dust up on just 3 or 4 drives. I live in NYC so I have to brake alot. Also, I don't have a driveway etc so it's tough for me to wash my car/wheels. I have to wait until the staff of my building is gone, manually open the garage door by pressing the button (cuz I can't afford a parking space in my own building), and fill up 2 buckets and wash at night. I only have time for this about once a month if I'm lucky.

That's why I have to use this brush every month.

Thanks Sean! I've been using the brush RIGOROUSLY on wheels with the most caked on brake dust with Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. These wheels were literally black. Excellent combo!

The brush is extremely sturdy as well. I've been reaching far into the wheel and I thought it might rip apart pushing and pulling it against the rotor/caliper/etc but it holds up. ZERO rips.

Really simple to rinse off all the grime as well.

A wheel cleaner or polish can remove stuff you really can't see well with the eye. I know when I clean my wheels with wash water they look clean but I follow with a polish like AIO and black gunk appears on the towel. My chrome rims shine so nice after a polish.

Does anyone know if you can still buy this product? I checked one local walmart and it wasn't in stock anymore.

Bought one yesterday. It was the last one on the shelf.
