Results of testing 2 leather products

I was sent 2 leather cleaner/conditioner products to try out and I love them both:D

If you are a professional detailer and cost$$$ is a big issue with you then you need to try out 2 products from Hi-Temp. One is a cleaner/conditioner in one and ahuge time saver for those busy shops or mobile guys.

I cleaned and treated the leather of an interior in record time the other day and the owner really liked the leather smell it left behind. It is a rather thick product which is cool because it clings to the surface and allows you to work it in real good then wipe or buff it dry. The conditioner it leaves behind is not glossy but you know something is there and the leather is not left super slick but again you know something is there. Works nice on vinyl also. I think a gallon runs about $10, which is an awesome deal for the price conscience detailer.

The other Hi-Temp product for leather I tried out is a leather and vinyl lotion, which is fairly thick and has a pleasant smell to it. Not real "leathery" but still very nice. What I love about this product is that you can buff it off right away and it won't leave the leather or vinyl glossy but man does it leave it real SLICK:xyxthumbs Not to the point where you are going to slid off your seat but slick in the way of getting in and out. It contains a polymer that helps to ease up on the abrasion of the side bolsters. A gallon costs $21.

I would not use the 2 above products on analine leather, at least not for extended periods of time because they seem to be made more for the protected type leathers.

If you are a pro with high end clients OR if you are a detailing enthusiast and want the best for your baby then LeatherMaster is the way to go. I now carry this line of products with me and many of the products the produce I am still testing. They have 2 cleaners, one is a mild light cleaner and the other is the "Strong" cleaner and it does a great job in not only cleaning the leather, mainly analine leather (non-coated) but it leaves th eleather feeling awesome, you almost don't need to be on the conditioner it feels so good:xyxthumbs

There are also 2 conditioners. The regular conditioner, which is very easy to work with and the "Vital" conditioner which is a vitalizer for overly dry leather, or leather that is going to be in the sun alot. Application of these products may not be what many are familiar with. The cleaners are applied after you work up a head of foam, the foam is then applied to the leather. Cleaning comes in small areas instead of large areas as the product can dry out if not wiped up right away.

To show the results I got with the "Strong" cleaner and the "Vital" condioner Ihave these 2 pics.

First one is of a filthy X5 interior, this is the one in my Cyclo test.

Nice review! I really like using Woolite and water to clean leather though. Works on coated and non coated, leaves a real nice clean scent and is dirt cheap to use.

I may have to try the Hi-Temp conditioners though but I do prefer a thinner liquid on the ventilated leather since thick products tend to clog the holes. Do you have anything different you use on them?

Yeah I used the Woolite today on the M5 I am detailing because I ran out of my normal cleaner. Stuff works great but the smell can bother me at times.

I just did a CL with vented seats and used the LeatherMaster conditioner.....no clogging of the holes at all. I am not sure of the price yet for that stuff but I alreadyhave an order in for lots of their products:bounce

Hey scott, i am not sure if you carry any compressor or anything, but i do and use it for the vents and crevices, but it is also good if some of the thicker conditioners gets into the perforations, you can blast it and wipe over with a terry towel, and no more gunk build up. Corey i believe also found that UV2 a hollander product works decently on perf. leather when applied by hand and buffed with a terry towel

Very nice, can we get some links on where to purchase these, I am assuming TOL?

Yeah, the Hi-Temp stuff is already up on the site but the LeatherMaster is still being tested by yours truly:D

Go to the "New Products" page

My vacuum turns into a blower so I can use it to try that. I've been using the Turtle Wax Leather Conditioner spray for ventilated seats. Works real good, leaves a light sheen and a nice scent.

Stupid Mercedes leather.

Yeah. :) UV2 works pretty well on preforated leather. It's fairly thin, didn't get in the holes.

Oh and hand spreading of the leather conditioner is a must. :p

Anthony:

I am going to order 2 gallons of the Cleaner/conditioner, but what are the chances that i can persuade them into letting me buy 32oz of the other 4 products to test out?

The 745 BMWs and Mercedes S55's have completely perforated leather seating surfaces. :(

Yeah, i inquired the manufacturer about that (well lexus about the is300) and they said the perforation helps to "grip" you in the seat at higher speeds

Isn't that what side bolsters are for? :nixweiss I better watch out next time I drive a car with non-preforated leather or I may float away. :o

edit: I think preforated leather is a bit cooler in the summer. At least from my experience. :)

I wish they would also consider at some point, someone may get a wild hair and decide to actually clean those seats...and get pi$$ed about having to clean out all those little holes.

Great thanks anthony, I dont want to take any away from you, but I am getting enough $ this weekend that it is time to try out some new stuff. My ph # is (585) 414-3625. If she has some, could you give her my number so she can call and let me know. Also tell her that I want to try some other stuff, and i will be full of small questions.

Thanks :) :) :xyxthumbs

Here is a link to what I am speaking of.http://www.topoftheline.com/handdeepscrubbingpad.html

I did not check Deanski's link but he may have it also.

The pads are made for use by hand or PC, they also have small 4inch pads for the Cyclo but they fell apart on me:mad: after one use.

The larger pads work great though for general cleaning of leather seats, dashboards, door panels etc. They may not work well for the heavy duty cleaning but for quick cleaning and wipe downs they work great. Ihave also used one for applying dressing to large surfaces, like suburban seats, work great also.
