Quick Detailer Use?

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
Although I have about a gallon each of several very good quick detailers, I find that I never use them.
I always reach for the Spray & Wipe instead.
Leaves the surface clean and shiny.
No worries about whether or not the surface was too dirty to safely use a QD.
Any others feel this way?
Would it be worth starting a poll?

I rarely use my QD's and like you reach for SW for most everything. I use QDs for dusting after polishing or as a spot lubricant for clay.

My process is S&W to get clean then QD after to pickup up any smudges and get the finish looking like fresh waxed

i use qd as clay lube.. and spray down a panel before applying wax with a pc for some more kick...that was a bigron secret:wow:

I've only used Spray and Gloss a several times. Although I like it alot I always find myself putting on another coat of wax.If I have time for a QD application I have time for a wax job.:passout:

I use qd's after washes to help boost shine and remove drip marks. (Although I'm now using spray waxes after washes, since there's snow on the ground and I figure I won't be doing anymore polishing/waxing this year. :( )

OK, you people convinced me.
I had S&W'd the Van yesterday and driven it about 20 miles today. Very little road dust. In fact none was visible at first glance, but I'm sure there was some.
I dug out 6 bottles of QD, set them on the counter, closed my eyes, grabbed one and used it. (I did open my eyes to use it before someone asks.:))
The van now looks great!
Of course, I thought it looked pretty good before. :D

I use QD's quite often. I use them more or less each time I wash. I end up using them to wipe down the glass, but I then decide to do the whole car.

ONR/4 in 1 QD's

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would just run this one into the ground. :)

Those of you that are using a QD made from either ONR or DP 4 in1, how do you feel it compares to other QD's you have used?
Not as a clay lube, but as a QD.

Considering the fact that I have QD's that I paid from $15 to $60 per gallon, the $2 per gallon that the ONR/4 in 1 would cost sounds like it's almost too good to be true.

Interesting that you use the QD on glass.
I read where people us QD's and S&W on their windows, but when I try either one, I seem to have streaks show up after a day or so. I have tried using two MF's for glass cleaning, 1 for the initial cleaning wipe, 1 for a finish wipe. Still had the same problem. The last time, I even went back 5 minutes later with a third dry MF towel for a final wipe and still didn't totally eliminate the streaks.
I do not have this problem when using any of several glass cleaners.

I use S&W for cleaning and light dust. I feel it is much safer and I do not get the micro marring I used to get from QD's.
I use my favorite QD as a follow-up to S&W and after all washes for extra pop, as well as the inside and outside of glass. I do not get streaks on the glass as long as it is cool and not in the sun.

After washing, I always finish with spray and wipe. It just is something that is a given for me. Plus, I really like the smell....mmmmmmmmmm...I gotta be careful not to take a drink of it.:rofl

OK, I give. How is Spray and Wipe different from a QD? Is is a "super" QD?

How do you use it?

Tom
No, it really isn't a QD at all.
It's truly a waterless wash product.
You spray it on the dirty vehicle, let it set long enough to saturate the dirt, then wipe it dry with a good MF towel.
It's a relatively thin liquid that doesn't dry real fast so it does a good job of loosening up the dirt on the vehicle.
The key is using enough to saturate the dirt, using a good MF towel and wipe the surface. It's Spray & Wipe, not rub.
I spray some on the vehicle, then spray some on the MF towel for the first wipe. I make one wipe with one section of a towel folded in 1/4's, then flip it over to a clean section for a final wipe of each section.
I use about 3 to 4 oz. of product and anywhere from 3 to 6 MF towels for either the GP or the Montana, not including the wheels. I use the same procedure on the wheels except I use some of my old cotton terry towels instead of my MF towels.
Five years ago if you had given me a waterless wash to use, I would have just passed it on to someone else. Spray & Wipe has since become the most consistently used product I have on hand. I can't imagine getting through an Iowa winter without it.

i gotta get some s&w. i tried some weeks back but everyone was out of the gallon sizes, i tried three diff. places, so i bought fc&s mixed it with s&g, 70-30,and this seems to work well as a cleaner, then i'll go over the car again with just s&g. when i'm outta fc&s i'm gonna get s&w, i've just heard to many great things about it.
