Hey Polaris, how's the car??
Around here, Photo radar was the big thing. It is mounted in vans and in boxes close to road level. Luckily the gov't decided to stop using it as it was an incredible unfair system of Fair Use Rights. With that said, Photo Radar was a very short beam aimed very low on the road. Why, so few radar detectors would pick it up and it would be too late. Believe me, it was a horrible 10 years with that type of radar!!
What I should also add is that here in Canada, the laser is quickly becoming the radar of choice. The police set up their tripods on the sides of banks etc... then radio ahead where another police officer pulls you over! The K and X bands are used very little. The wider spectrum, KA much more here. But laser is the real PITA!!
