PS Detailed: 2008 Corvette owner looses sleep untill.....

I am surprised you could get those pigtails out with a DA. Having achieved excellent results myself using the Surbuf pads, I guess I have underestimated the true power of the Surbuf pads all along.

With innnovation such as the Surbuf pads, i wonder if the rotary would eventually be replaced! Even with such amazing cutting power, the DA + Surbuf combo finishes extremely nicely, operates MUCH COOLER, and is FAR SAFER around edges compared to the rotary... Using the Surbuf + DA combo in leiu of the rotary is almost a no brainer. The Surbuf pad has the cutting power of a wool pad, but without any of its downsides. Of course, the "pros" with decades of experience will probably disagree with this. Three of the older professionals (in their 40's) I talked to over the Internet refuse to try the Surbuf pads completely. Who can blame them?

I'd say "nothing suprises me anymore" but I even after using the surbuf pads/M105 cobo for over 6 months, I was suprised how easy this combo worked.

I guess there are "detailers" on other forums who don't think the results on this car are that good. Since I don't post on that forum, I guess I will just answer here.

I read that post when he first did the car.I just wonder and don't get me wrong i just don't understand why the first set of pictures were all close up's of the defects. But most of the after shots were far away and and not in the bright sun.Look at the other post by OCdetails and how to take proper pictures.I don't know what kind of variable those surbuf pads played in doing the paint correction. But i really don't think pads play as bigger part in paint correction on a hard clear coat as much as process used and the right machine and technique.I've met pro detailers if you gave them a sponge to use to correct swirls they probably would make a car look good.As long as you didn't take pictures of the car in direct sunlight.

WOW! Are you really trying to say that if the sun was out the car would of looked any different? :chuckle:

I had one picture cropped out to show what the defects really looked like. I used a camera flash and halogens in my before shots.

I used a halogen in one of the 50/50 after shots and the rest where done with a camera flash, which IMO is very revealing. If you read the thread you would see that I noted it was a cloudy day when the car was done. That is why I used the camera flash in my after pics.

While the job on the thread referenced is much better than the previous hack job I don't think it looks that impressive regardless of how long it took him. From what I can see in the pics it looks like the swirls are gone but paint is not very well jeweled.

:spit: All I saw was a crystal clear finish when Bret and I where done. :nixweiss

great work. what type of head are you using, not sure the right word. Part that holds your pad on? Thanks

Found at correct term, backing plate. I see there are few types and sizes

Thank you!

Standard 6" BP for a PC.

I've seen you work, and I know for a FACT that you're getting Grade-A results!

I agree that the flash is very revealing when taking photos, and sometimes we simply don't have sunshine to show the final results.

I look at it this way Bryan...you've proven your skills time and time again and I don't see a need for a Pro Detailer of your caliber to have to explain your results when you don't have the luxury of a direct sun shot!

And yes, you CAN get stunning results with a PC! I've been doing a tremendous amount of work with the PC and 105/205 lately on Ferraris, and no I won't have the luxury of sunshine to show them off.

Keep up the stellar work my friend! :)

I'll echo your comments Todd. Trolls will be trolls. Consider anyone questioning your ability as nothing more than a jealous and misinformed hack.

after reading your thread i felt so much better with the end result, i'm a vet owner and the hack that did the damage should be shown what a vett, in this case, should look like when it's done right, excellent work.:2thumbs:

Thanks David! So someone with a very high post count on another forum should not be considered a quality detailer? :spit:
