Problem with Edge pads

Yes eastern standard time. Can you also send me a sample of the chemical used since there is some discrepancy about its consistancy. I would like to determine if it played a role in the delamination. That way we can develop an adhesive that will resist that chemcial as well.

Thanks,

Aaron

if it's a thin watery liquid then it's the od stuff if it's nice and cream.. it's new..
I have a bottle of the old stuff as well. It's sat around for a long time before I had a good candidate to use it on. The first time I used it on an entire car my LC pad delaminated 3/4 of the way through. I've used the pad before with other polishes but it had only one or two uses on the clock. So, IMO it really shouldn't have been delaminating. Can't say if it was due to the polish, but this coincidence makes me wonder. Good thing Steve changed the formula.

What time do you get there in the morning?

Yes, I'll send you some of the Pro Polish along with the pads. How much do you need?

How old is the old stuff? When did the new version come out?

I'm starting to think it has to be the Pro Polish. With the first pad on it's first use, I didn't use the Pro Polish only the SSR1 and SSR2.5. It was on the second use (when it came loose) that I used the Pro Polish. Then with the Second pad, I used the Pro Polish right away and it came loose before the end of the vehicle. I also used the Pro Polish with the Orange, Green pad although they might have been to think to allow the Polish to make it to the glue.

the new version just came out with in the last month or so.. the Old version is great the newwer version is better..

:)

Thanks for the info. I ordered mine June 3rd, but it's got to be the old stuff, being it's thinner than water.

Besides Mikeyc, I haven’t heard of it causing any problems with pads.

I would think that if the polish was causing pads to delaminate we would be hearing more about it. So, one can't really say the polish is the problem. But since someone had brought it up I thought I would share my recent experience.

Yeah, I'm not putting it on the polish until Aaron has a chance to test it. Thanks for bringing up your case though.

Brace with me here as I have never used one of these pads before and I am in the market for more pads.

How does the adapter not hit the paint?? usually the pads because softer after they have been primed with product so if the pad gave away wouldn't the adapter hit the paint?

Look closer at the pics and can see that the plastic was what caused the sound and contact with the car not the adapter. In one of the pics you can clearly see the plastic off center and exposed though the hex hole in the foam. With no foam covering or protecting the plate the plastic would be the only thing to hit. The adapeter would still be housed within and below the plastic and could not hit the paint. The plastic is also specially designed to break down with any friction and only leave a scuff which can ususally be wiped off if not buffed off easily. So don't have fear about the adapter hitting the paint.

Sneek it really didn't hit the paint. I tried to make it hit on that spot and it was indeed the the plastic. It sounded bad, but let barely any marks.

EDGE, I've been trying to get the 2 pads along with a sample of the Pro Polish out to you, but just haven't had any time. On top of that, we had a bad storm the other night along with today and over 1/2 million houses and business are out of power. My parents aren't thinking my purchase of a generator to go mobile was such a bad idea now.

Things should be cleaned up around here by early next week and I should get them sent to you.

I have had nearly the same results after using my edge 6 inch pads this weekend/Monday.

The orange pad happened Saturday while doing my Corvette... I also used the green and blue pads without issue. But blue pad happened last night while working on my wife's SUV.
