Preventing light scratches ?

I have a light silver Nissan Titan. I've clayed,fp'd and have a few coats of FMJ on it. The truck is sort of a garage queen as I only use it on weekends.

I seem to be getting quite a few surface scratches that show up as white lines or pinhead size pecks on the SIDES in random locations. So far they buff right off with some FMJ and don't seem to leave any permanent marks. I guess these are coming from road debris I get hit with while on the interstate. For whatever reason I haven't seen these marks on the painted plastic front

bumper extensions.- softer paint?

Question- Would a carnuba wax topper over something like AIO be more resistant to this type marring ??? I chose a sealent due to the winter and road salts, maybe it's too thin or hard ?:nixweiss

scratches might be coming from drieing, washing, bugs, rocks ect ect hitting your car at 70 mpr.

3M makes a clear tape that is mainly used on the tires fender for when the tire picks up rocks that hits the car's paint.

A body shop can spray paint a stronger clear coat on? waxes/sealers does not protect much for impacts, clear coat does better.

buy mud flaps for your truck or fender mud guards and a bra for your front

Titans (and Dodge Hemis) were never intended to be "garage queen's". :D

Seriously, watch what you use to wash and dry the truck. A cotton wash mitt, microfiber drying towels and a good car specific shampoo help a lot.

For the rock chips -- good quality mudflaps and running boards or the right kind of tube bars help to prevent the majority of the chips. I've had a bra on a truck. It was a PIA.

By the way silver doesn't show these flaws like black. Take a look at my signature.

Ya I agree, I should use it more but work gets in the way. Thanks for the tips, I have flaps and tube rail steps. I think I'll stick with the FMJ this winter. That stuff DOES sparkle so we'll see how it does with salt, mud and grime. In the spring I may strip it and go to AIO and a carnuba topper and see how the look changes. Good luck with your Black Beauties.

Be extremely choosey if your going to go chenille, not all are 100% cotton.
