Presidential Detailed: Freshly painted EG, almost ruined by a hackjob.

My painter sucks as much as that guy in the detailing department. Good job on correcting everything

Awesome turn around Billy! beautiful reflection shots. The holograms were bad... but WOW there was a lot of micromarring. I really want to know how the other guy "buffed"

Very nice job!

But the burned edges means the entire panel(s) needs to be refinished; again.

I hope the owner understands this and can work something out with the shop

and fella that messed it up. Merely touching it up with a brush is unacceptable

and WILL fail in a short time.

How do you figure? I have many spotted-in repairs on my vehicles and some merely brushed areas too, and they're all fine even after many years

Sorry, that sounds more :argue than I intended, but I hardly ever have entire panels reshot over localized issues and I've just never had any problems.

But I too was wondering about his having the repairs done...sorta opens the door to new problems unless everybody involved is very careful.

Most folks aren't autopians that maintain their cars religiously. Door edges

in particular, are prone to chipping but the damage in the pic below is too

severe. And in order to accomplish this amount, the fella was extremely heavy

handed. And looking at the "flatness," the sanding was also very heavy.

My gut tells me that there isn't enough film build and the UV protection

is compromised; from the first guy. And although PresdntialDtail did an

excellent job, even more paint had to be removed.

*Also, the ugly tape line on the quarter panel indicates a rushed job.

The painter should have known it would show...

This edge should be obvious that it's ruined. Not "almost ruined." It is ruined.

Merely brushing it up will NOT last. Make no mistake.

Good point, what lasts for me might not last for somebody else.

Yeah, I was thinking that myself.

OK, but couldn't they just fade into the surrounding panel(s) rather than redo say, the whole door? Some of today's clears do a nice job of melting into existing paintwork.

Just discussing it, as I find the subject interesting.

I hate to agree with you, but I do agree, heh.

I'd be worried just how much paint is left after a hack sanding and buffing job, followed by a proper one. I'm not worried about the later work, it's the initial work that has to make you wonder just how much is left.
