Poorboy's Wheel Sealant!

I am taking my obsession with brake dust to another level. I am swapping out my pads with ceramic pads. EBC Red Stuff to be exact. I have seen pictures of members on X5world.com who have swapped and showed pics of their wheels 2-3 weeks later with almost NO brake dust on wheels. They looked as if they drove a mile the most.

The pads, along with Poorboys Wheel Sealant should literally make cleanign my wheels with any type of wheel cleaner, non-exhistant for the life of the pads.

Members have noted that braking power is better but some also mentioned that ceramic pads on tracks tend to fade a lot easier. I don't track my X5 so that does not affect me.

Anyone swap for ceramics on here?

I haven't seen many reviews on this products but all I have to say is WOW!

Up until now, NOTHING sticks to my wheels! Easy to wash and debris just comes off!

I recommend this product to anyone! :bigups :bigups :bigups

I did a review on it last year (http://www.detailcity.org/forums/po...orum/16028-poorboys-wheel-sealant-review.html). You're right it's a great product.

I've been using it on my uncoated aluminum wheels for the last year. I apply a couple of coats every two months and have experience zero oxidation or clouding. I only time I need to polish is to remove slight marring from wear/tear and washing.

I have used it and been very happy. I just got some new OZ aluminum and painted (black) centers. Is this still the BEST product or should I just Zaino the whole thing? Also what abour Rejex for this?

I'd stick with Poorboy's...Here are my aluminum wheels after 1 year of using Poorboys Wheel Sealant:

I have ceramic pads for my front brakes on my Accord. I don't remember how dirty it was before the ceramics but I will say that ceramic pads do dust. Mine seem to create about the same dust as the rears. With that said, it could be that semi-metallic pads would've dusted more.

The benefits of ceramic pads are:
  • Run cooler therefore less rotor warping...in fact, I used to warp a set of rotors in a year; it's been 3 years now on the same set of ceramic pads and no signs of warping.
  • Ceramic pads are harder and therefore last longer.
  • Ceramic pad dust is supposedly not corrosive; therefore, it won't corrode the clearcoat on your wheels like semi-metallics will.

In spring, I bought a set of alloys for my ride. I also has bought a tub of Poorboy's Wheel Sealant to protect them. 3 coats later, drying time of 20 minutes each... This was done early April...

The proof! :)

I have to agree Poorboys wheel sealant is best product I have used..

I bought my chrome wheels over winter and put on 6-8 coats front and back and nothing stuck to them. What can I say winters are long in Wi. LOL

UPDATE:

The wife hasn't given me hell for using the table! :yay

Pockets, those are FastCo Titanium Finish wheels!

Now, I applied this stuff in March... 3 coats. Washed the car MANY times all through the spring, summer and fall...Up to mid November, I removed the wheels to install my winter set and the dirt/dust comes off like a charm! NOTHING was stuck to it! Now they are in my basement and I will clean the wheels and re-apply 3 more coats! I also apply 3 coats to the back of the wheel... Great Product!

How I applied it. Apply the product, let it cure, buff off with a mega plush m/f towel. The repeat the steps 2 more times! (yes it takes time, the reason the coffee table was used, watching TV at the same time! :) )

I really love the durability of this stuff too. I'll be getting my 19's prepped for the summer season soon. Those wheels are a pain to clean and the sealant will make it a lot easier. I know it's a simple product, but it makes the life of a detailer so much easier.

Stupid question.....

Do I need to take the wheels off to seal the inside of the wheels? How often do you seal on the back of the wheels? Thanks for the review. I will get some PB WS for myself.

You must remove the wheels to do the inside of them and they should be polished well before using the sealant..take one off at a time in case you run out of time.

^^ he's right! For me, I have installed winter tires on their stock wheels. These are my summer wheels and I'll do them sometime this winter with a cold beer and watching TV!

So take one off at a time to do it. You don't need to do the inside, but for me, that's the perfectionist in me that did it! :)
