It was kind of a surprise for me to be so much of a proponent of it... I was really set on getting a Makita after my last rotary died, but after reading up on the Flex and looking at my sagging biceps, I went with the 3403.
Some guys have had problems with them doing thermal shutdowns. Mine hasn't ever gotten hot enough to shut down. When it was new, it did get *very* warm, but now that it has several hundred hours on it, it's not as loud and it doesn't get as hot. Flex does recommend that you keep the pad size to 7" or smaller. I've used the 7.5" LC foam mushroom pads with no problem, though. It's still not as quiet as the Makita, either.
