if you had to use your personal car for you detailing work car also, but wanted a little more flash/class added than a "work truck" could provide, what would it be???



range rovers are out as they are problem cars from the start...



lets hear them...
 
I'm no pro detailer but an Acura Integra would seem decent. It's a hatchback and has plenty of space for it's size. It's either that or like a Toyota RAV-4 or Honda CR-V OR the new 5-door minicars that are out: Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Scion xA/xB.



In the thick of it all, just comes down to what you can afford I suppose. It would seem that the Scions have the most flash but the Yaris and Fit are newcomers to the game.
 
where is the FLASH/CLASS in those???



talking about denali, range rover (no), mercedes suv...etc.....those types...of is it over rated....



reason I ask is because I want a new car, but i need the space for all my gear, but i dont want to buy a nice DD CAR and get a crappy work truck like a POS 1990 toyota pickup(great truck, but no style)....so i am looking into something that stands out, looks amazing with a set of rims and a good detail to it, and works as a work vehicle and a DD vehicle....
 
How about an H2? Personally, they arent for me, but they do turn heads. If you put a set of nice wheels on it and letter it up, you're sure to get noticed in it.



I dont know how much money you are looking to spend, but if it is less than what an H2 costs, I'd suggest a Scion XB. They are cheap, reliable, and functional. No, I dont own one, but we used to have a tint guy at work (who did auto/commercian) that worked out of one without any problems.



Not much of a head turner, but perhaps you could also look at a Focus SVT. They are pretty fun to drive, and have a ton of room in the back. I've detailed out of my 2 door ZX3 before with ease. I dont make a living doing it, but I fit my lights and all my other necessary stuff in the back NO PROBLEM. The back seats fold down almost completely flat and it sure makes it easy to load your stuff into.

Dodge Magnum would be pretty nice. Though I'm not sure how good of a car they are.



You don't have to settle for a POS though if you go the two car route. I'm sure you could find a pretty sweet older truck for very reasonable. I'm thinking something like a 60's to 70's Chevy/GMC/Ford pickup, or maybe a Suburban.
 
I thought about this before and thought about what was different enough it would turn your head, especially if you had a cool paint job and be able to haul stuff.

1) FJ Cruiser

2) Honda Element

3) Chevy SSR



My favorite was the FJ Cruiser.
 
Sorry but if I saw a detailer driving an Element, I would seriously question their ability, let alone their sanity. :nixweiss
 
IF you want something to stick out that's bold, first two cars I thought of were the H2 and Escalade. Other than that, you can get pretty much any midsize sedan out there.



Personally, I wouldn't mind getting an Acura RL. It's an extremely under-rated car, easy to maintain (Honda), and you know you can rely on it.

If I showed you pictures of my daily driver you'd probably roll over and die. But what would that have to do with my abilities to polish paint?
 
i am rolling a 2004 Astro Van rite now for a DD and to haul around all my equipment(pressure washer, tank, generator, etc).....



But my other truck i have is a 2001 Chevy Silverado that is under construction being bagged and having some bodywork done...once done will defenitely be a good marketing tool!



I think a new pick up truck is the easiest, fairly cheap to get, very easy to cusotmise to look good, and can haul just about anyhting you want also

I'm on the same boat. My car, for the most part, is always dirty. However, if they accepted you to do work, then the results should be more than sufficient.
 
Well I guess if you want your DD to also be your work vehicle you should take into consideration



1. The gas you are going to guzzle up using a large SUV like an H2 or Escalade

2. The miles you are going to put on going from job site to job site



I guess if you want something that isn't just a pick up truck I would look into a used Denali or Excursion.



If looking new, I would personally go for the Mazda suv don't know if this qualifies as classy to you or not.
 
Why not look @ something over 6,000 GVWR and take a 179 deduction?



There's a reason you see all these businesses driving H2s - they essentially cost them only 2/3 of what they paid when you figure in the tax savings.
