The introduction of M105 and M205 is what has made many pros turn their rotaries in for PC's and/or Flexs. Those two polishes enable the PC to do stuff it's never been able to do before. Unfortunately, they are necessary in order to really get stuff done with the PC. Now before I get a whole bunch of "I've been using a PC and getting stuff done for a long time before M105/M205" replies, yes, I'm very aware of what can and can't be done with a PC. It's just that the Meguiars products take the DA polisher to an entirely new level of what can be done, and how fast it can be done.
I never used Menzerna, but from what I know, the PC might have a hard time breaking down the abrasives.
toyotaguy said:yep, DO NOT GET 6.5" pads for the PC!!!
Legacy99 said:Stick with your 4" and 5.5" pads. PC cannot handle the larger 6-6.5" pads. Forget about the counterweight, it won't make a difference what weight you use.
No worries, man, it's great that you're putting in so much time and effort into researching the products before you buy. :xyxthumbsCumminsCrazed said:OK so heres what im thinking right now.....a few diff options, some as kids off autogeek and some kits i put together myself
Porter Cable 7424 pad kit, porter cable accessories kit, porter cable polisher kit There's usually always a few products of questionable value in these all-in-one kits. The stuff in this one: the CCS pads. The regular flat pads are (arguably) better. Also, the pad conditioner is really not needed. I'd also recommend getting a jar of DP pad cleaning powder rather than the spray inlcuded in the kit. I'd also recommend that you never use an LC yellow foam pad on a PC (or a rotary, for that matter). They can leave nasty compounding marks that are then impossible to remove with anything other than a rotary and aggressive polish.
+M105 and M205 (any LSP's or anything youd rec. on top of those?
Pinnacle Porter Cable 7424 Kit, Lake country ccs pads, polishing pads, porter cable pads, porter cable kit I can't comment on the Pinnacle abrasive polishes, but Souveran is a very good (albeit short duration) wax. Once again, the kit includes CCS pads.
Wolfgang Porter Cable 7424 Swirl-Free Kit I haven't used the wolfgang polishes, either. Once again, CCS pads.
Menzerna Porter Cable Maximum Shine Kit FREE BONUS Of all the kits, this one looks the best. IP and FP are both very good polishes.
Optimum Porter Cable 7424 Kit Remove swirl marks and paint flaws This one looks very good, too. I haven't used the new Optimum polishes, but the last revsionof their polishes were good and very easy to use. The other Optimum products included in tihs kit are excellent, too. It's hard to say that this kit is definitely better than the Menzerna kit, cause I haven't used the new polish versions, but it certainly *looks* like it would be a great kit to consider.
Poorboy’s Porter Cable 7424 Polish & wax Kit I'm not going to comment on this one, cause I'm afraid it might start a flame war.I'll just say that I think the Menzerna kit and/or the Optimum kit are better values.
Now, before anyone freaks and talks about the 6.5" pads and nothing more....i also plan to get this....
CCS foam buffing pads, foam polishing pads, lake country foam pads, foam polisher pads, buffer pads, lake county pads, porter cable pads, pads for air sander (how many of what color??) The CCS pads aren't necessarily *bad*, but after using regular old flat pads and CCS pads, I like the flat ones better. My favorite foam is still the six inch Edge wave foam. If you decide to go with the LC foam, I'd recommend three orange, three white, and three of either black/grey/blue/or red.
Spot Buffing 4 inch pads, Lake country 4 inch pads, 4 inch foam pads, 4 inch ccs pads, ccs foam pads (how many of what color??)
Porter Cable 7424 Backing Plates- Dual Action Hook & Loop backing plate for your porter cable 7424, The best backing plates for the Porter Cable 7424
Bonnets are fabric pad covers used to buff off waxes and polishes with your polisher or buffer. microfiber bonnet, micro fiber bonnet, terry cloth (need help with bonnets of all types and uses)
You really don't need bonnets, but pretty much any good MF bonnet will do.
Sorry this is such a long and repetitive post, i just really would like to get this figured out so i know what to get and what seems to work well with these kits and/or my kit i put together
CumminsCrazed said:ahhh ok....so the CCS pads arent all the rave that they sound like in reading about them?
I just want something thatll work awesome and be easy for a newbie to use and not get discouraged with!
Edit back at ya: Whats the diff between the PC7472 and the Flex?
