P085rd plus H20 Crimson pads has really impressed me.

The LC white also seems to be a closed cell pad. It is unlike any regular LC standard CCS or flat foam pad.

The white foam is a mixed open/closed cell blend. I believe the numbers are like 90 percent closed, 10 percent open, or somewhere along those lines.

Another way to tell a open vs. closed cell pad is to hold it under water and squeeze it. If you get a lot of tiny air bubbles (enough to make the water hazy) then it closed cell.

So it's not the same foam in the 2,0 version of Meguiars cutting pads? Interesting.

I got a big load of some new pads from a swedish manufacturer(well, the foam is from Germany)

My understanding of Meguiar's pads is this...

Black foams-

The So1o black foam and Softbuff 2.0 black foam are completely different. The Softbuff 2.0 black foam has a much higher PPI, but I usually prefer the older style black faom.

Yellow foams-

AFAIK they are all the same.

Maroon- The Softbuff (6 inch and 8 inch) use an older, brillo feeling open celled foam that is very aggressive. The newer Softbuff 2.0 maroon foam has a little less cut and finishes extremely well (amazingly well) as is a closed cell foam.

Very interesting! I always thought they were open cell. All this time when squeezing the white pads out I noticed the bubbles and just thought they weren't clean yet... They bubble more then the HT pads do.
