Overlooked: Menzerna PO203S Power Finish

That Silicone Remover sounds like a good alternative to IPA Stiff. I don't suppose you remember if it worked good or not eh? I was under the impression that prep solvents would work better than IPA but maybe it is time to go back.

It's been over a year now since i've used it... All I remember was the smell wasn't that great...But I think I will have to buy some again since it's only like $8 for 32oz to see how well it does in fact perform.

I love 203S, but I hate how bad it fills. The finish can look amazing, then I will iso the surface, and it looks as if the polish did NOTHING!

Thank you!

Bingo.... Point proven.... IPA will remove all the lubes and show true results.

If you are getting swirls come back, then that means the IPA did it's job 100% and removed the lubes (not fillers) and now shows true results.. Now that means you need to go back and repolish the section and maybe change to a more aggresive pad to cut out the defects and keep inspecting till the defects are gone.

Now if the defects are gone, you will see fine circular pad abrasions left behind from the pad and this is normal. It's now time for your finish polish.:spot

This is what true polishing is. Nothing more, nothing less!

What IPA is removing is actually the lubes. Some people call them fillers, but to be totally 100% honest they are just lubes doing their job.

Without the proper lubes, the abrasives would just dry up and char the paint while giving an uneven thickness of paint. Now with the abrasives emulsified in the lubes, it now runs cooler, longer, evenly, letting the abrasives "tumble" the scratches and swirls removing them while giving a great base gloss.

Now to answer the two questions... Does 203 fill and why are the defects coming back after I use IPA?

My logical answer:

"The power is in your hands and you are the machine. The buffer, polishes, and pads are only your tools... It's all how the machine fine tunes the tools to be the work of art"!

Good Luck!

I am almost using PO203S on all my details. As said before, it will give a nice cut when used with a proper pad - I prefere to use it with a foamed wool or some of my new wool pad samples that I got. Jewel it down and you have a pretty damn nice surface. Do some ISO wipedowns and then use PF with a polishing pad and you have a lsp ready surface. For better gloss, give it a hit with either super or final finish. Then finaly a ISO wipedown and foam it with a high alkalie wash. Then apply the lsp.

Great advice Ryan - you are truely a Master of your craft. When are you writing your paper? ;)

Thanks David! You know how overly obsessed I am.

I have no time for a paper and I am slammed with tons of work. I still have to find time to do my c&b's from last year let alone all the jobs from this year..

Why would you use 203 over SIP, if SIP cuts more and you need a finishing step with both?

Quite often, I get clients that can't afford a full three step. 203 will finish down darn near as well as 106FF. That's a darn good finish for a two-step.

Exactly my plan for tomorrow's detail. If I can save the customer some of his hard earned money and build a strong relationship with him, I have a customer for life.

How did it go?

Very well, it knocked out all the swirls and scuffs but it didn't phase some of the deep stuff. I need M105 in some spots. I also used Meguiar's #7 that was talked about recently, the owner and I did an IPA wipedown after polishing. It was blemish free and #7 made it dripping wet.

When using 203 in a two step, is 203 what you start with and then finish with something like 85RD or do you start with something like 105 and finish up with 203?

Could you mention some good high alkaline washes please?
