Opinions on the Air Wand?

AIR WAND

I was at the Mobile Tech Expo in Orlando this weekend sitting in on one of Bud Abraham's detailing seminars and one of the products he briefly displayed was the Air Wand. I've tried a plain leaf blower a few times but never got satisfactory results, seems to mostly move the water or break up large water drops into smaller ones, but the Air Wand concentrates the air flow from a high velocity blower and looks like it would work much more efficiently.

I respect Bud Abraham but I also recognize that he works for Detail Plus and the display is geared to promote sales (by the way, they charge $25 more than TheAirWand.com for the same product).

I would like to see some real user reviews before I shell out $100 on another drying panacea. Has anyone here used the Air Wand? What are your thoughts (pros, cons, etc.)?

I use an inexpensive blower attachment by Rigid from Home Depot. Works well for me, and I do not see the unique value of the "Airwand". I must give this product the benifit of the doubt though, because I never tried it.

For a $100 I too would much rather try out before buying.

Mine works great, I normally use it to dry after every wash. So some reason yesterday I used my Walmart drying towels instead. That was a mistake because I was constantly wiping up drips that I don't get with the Air Wand.

Here is a message I posted awhile back with a discount for Autopia.org members.

I'm not interested because 1) I have a Toro leaf blower that does a great job and 2) they don't make just the attachment for my leaf blower. I.e., they sell the complete unit or the air wand attachment for just the Weedeater blower.

If they made an attachement for the Toro blower, I'd buy it. But, it's not worth $100 to completely replace my Toro.

Regards,

Dan.

I bet you could find a tapered-tip Shop-Vac attachment that, with a little duct-tape, would attach to your leaf-blower nicely.

My Craftsman vac converts to a blower and it does an excellent job. Can't see spending money on something for $100 that a $70 vacuum does...and also vacuums!

I emailed the company and they said that you can return the product within 30 days if you are not satisfied with it, as long as the unit is not scratched or damaged.

They also said they will still honor the 10% discount for Autopia members (thanks roaringmouse).

So I guess I'll give it a whirl and try it out a few times.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
