ONR first timer! Sweet!

:bigups Well, after much reading I finally tried out the bottle of ONR i've had for 2 months. I'm impressed with the product. It took me about an hour to do the whole car, but i took my time. I think once i get my technique down, hopefully i'll be able to break about 20 minutes off that time (hopefully). I used 2 buckets, wheels first, pre-treated and then one panel @ a time, top to bottom with chenelle mits and PB's WW's. Topped it with OSW. This stuff its pretty amazing. Thanks Juztang for answering my questions and the fine OPT products. Now i guess i'll be ordering it a gallon @ a time.

it really is one of those things, seeing is believing. I dragged my feet to get some cause I don't mind conventional washing, but to me the ONR wash is better, easier, and faster. I saw no learning curve as amount to use or streaking, as some have, perfect results first time.

No doubt. Seeing is beleiving. The first time I read about ONR I said to myself no way. Then ScottWax and others said yeah in will work. Tried it and was amazed!!! Now I wash my car in my garage where it is nice and warm. Then wax. What a product!!

I just tried this today as well, it is great! Like others I was somewhat skeptical but now think I will be using it all the time. Very easy to use and saves a lot of time. Not to mention I live in an apartment so conventional washing is a PITA.

I've used it 3 times now & love it. Finally have a way to keep the cars clean through a ND winter. I start at the top & do the wheels last with an old MF.

My car just keeps getting deeper and wetter looking to me (wetter?). Here's some pics

an extra bonus to using ONR is that i can hide in my garage and do it...that way my neighbors won't think i'm a freak for washing my cars so often. hahahaha :)

you also avoid the "hey...is mine next?!?" comments. yeah!

I still prefer a hose to remove most of the loose dirt before touching the paint esp on wheels, wheel wells and tires , but I can see the benefit without one too( I have used it and QEW now and then over the last year). One big benefit is what paradigm mentioned, the neighbours won't see what u are doing in the garage :lol Mine think I am crazy anyway becouse we share a parking hall in the building. They don't even comment anymore, just smile and drive away with their filthy cars.

Haha, I hate those comments!!!

I've used QEW twice now and after each time I could see marring when brought under the sun. I believe I used 2 ounces for 2 gallons, a seperate rinse bucket, Eurow Sheepskin Mitt, and a bunch of Microfibers. My car has never gone over a week and a half to without cleaning, and in this case each time I used QEW it went about 4-5 days before cleaning. I started from the roof and from there did one panel at a time. I let the Sheepskin mitt do all the work and did not apply any pressure what so ever, yet somehow still got marring. The car is a 98 Honda civic and the clear is very soft, but I dont think that is the problem?:nervous:

Without watching you actually use QEW, it is hard to say what the problem is. I used QEW for 12 years before switching to ONR (which seems to have superior lubricity and definitely leaves more slickness and gloss after washing than QEW) and I never had a problem with marring even on the softest of paints.

Could you possibly be seeing drying streaks instead of marring?

ScottWax thats really funny you mention that. The first time I used it I remember exactly that I went two days without washing the car and there was just a little bit of dust on it. The drivers side of my car is OEM paint, but the passengers side has been resprayed due to a drunk driver accident. The respray looks nice, but when i got it back the holograms were horrible(of course). Before I had my PC, I just had an orbital and went at the passenger side with Meguiars #2 fine cut cleaner and my orbital. 6 hours later and almost every swirl was gone. The drivers side still had light swirls from where I had never bought the proper tools to get rid of them. I usually just used a good carnuba to fill most of the small swirls. When I used QEW I pulled it into the sun and the passenger side looked fine, but the drivers side looks as if swirls and marring had accumulated, but almost as it just took out the carnuba that hid the swirls. When I further inspected, I could tell on the drivers fender what looked like swirls was IN FACT streaking. Then 2 weeks ago I bought a PC, XMT 2, Collinite 845, and a bunch of other goodies. Last weekend before I finally was able to do my first full swirl removal, and I washed with QEW and it seemed like for the most part there was little to no marring, but on a couple spots such as the passenger door under the sunlight you could see where they was a group of swirls/marring that went up from the trim towards the door handle about 8 in. long as if something for caught and went accross the paint. This is probably what turned me off the most about it. I am very careful with it. I only used one motion, never back and forth, and of course like I said the Eurow sheepskin mitt. After each panel I dried with a Microfiber then back over with another one to get anything left. Technically since all of the swirls have been removed I havent used QEW, but i dont want to marr the finish and have to do the whole procedure again. I also have a few deeper scratches that XMT wouldnt get it. What would you recommend for that? Optimum Compound??

Freak! My wife says the same thing! LOL

It never fails for someone to say that. Thanks for the compliments guys. I would have replied earlier but i've been asleep. I got some TW UPG tins at Advance autoparts for $2.50 each. I like the stuff okay, does a good job, but for 2.50 a can, i couldnt pass it up.

I really like ONR as well. I think it works best at double the recommended dilution (1 oz per gallon instead of 1/2 an oz). Mine is now pale brown, but still works as good as ever.
