Oakley Customer Service.

I purchased a pair of Oakley Half Wires over a year ago. Recently I noticed the lenses developed what looked like spider wed shaped cracks at the point where the arm attaches to the lens on both lenses. I phone Oakley Tuesday and tell them about it and the rep says to mail in my glasses and they will check them out. If it is an manufacturer defect they will replace the lens for $29.00 CDN even though they are out of warranty. I said great. I sent them in Tuesday express mail so they would arrive yesterday. I phone today to see if they arrived and the rep asks for my case # and puts me on hold. While I'm on hold there is a knock at the door and the mail lady is there with a package from Oakley. I thought why is this package being returned to me? I take the package and bring it in the house and get back on the phone just as the customer rep is getting back on the phone (good timing). He says that they replaced the entire pair of glasses no charge. I said I just received them while I was on hold. He said it was obvious my glasses were well cared for and that it was a manufacturer defect and they weren't proud of it. Replaced the set of glasses no charge and delivered to my door in less than two full days. Just when I thought good customer service was a thing of the past I get very pleasantly surprised. Made my day. :bigups :bigups :bigups :bigups :bigups :bigups :bigups For Oakley.

Yep, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a pair of Oakley's again.

Actually they do that for me every 1 1/2 to 2 years with a couple of high end pairs that I have. Ear pieces that become loose or nose piece that has a problem. They just replace them and send them back.

I like Oakley’s always had them, but my Customer Service experience isn't so good. Some of the coating started chipping off the lenses, because of the solvent that was sold to me with the glasses. I called them they told me the same thing as you, but that it would take up to 3 weeks. Not wanting to go that long without them I went to a local retailer and had them order me some new lenses. It took months not weeks for them to get there. Calls where made weekly, the local retailer and the regional rep didn't know what was going on. When they finely got there the retailer sold them to me for like $30 when IIRC they where going to be $90 or so. You can't tell me they ain't making some big bucks off us.

I had $300 pair of Oakley Juliets where the lenses had swirl marks in them, apparently from my cleaning them. So I sent them back and within a week they sent me a whole new pair. I was expecting to have to pay for new lenses, especially since they could have said that I was cleaning them wrong or something (which wasn't the case). So my 1+ year old glasses replaced no charge. I'm an Oakley wearer for life.

When I called and reported the defect I was told it would take 2 weeks. Thats why I was so surprised when they showed up at the door today. New glasses free of charge that were out of warranty and at the door in less than 2 days.

I use optical MF and Plexus on all my glasses and never have swirl marks or any other kinds of problems with coatings. The cracks that developed in mine were manufacturer defects.

Plexus is awesome stuff. My instrument panel in the car is practically invisible. I have had people think it was missing it's so clear and all I use is my best MF and Plexus.

I never even touched the lenses with microfiber. I always just washed them in the sink with mild dish soap which also acts like a lubricant. That's why I'm pretty sure the swirls weren't my doing. I've had the current pair for 4 years now and no such markings.

here they are:

I bought a can and have yet to use it. I'm just so conditioned to just leave the instrument glass alone. I should give it a shot.

How do you dry them after you wash them? Plexus is also very slippery feeling when you use it. The MF I use on glasses is the silk type you get in the optical stores.

I also use Plexus and my best MF on my laptop screen. Again not a single swirl/scratch. I checked by shutting off the computer and using my Dual Xenon Light by Brinkmann. If there were marks I would see them.

I just blot them with the optical microfiber and then let them air dry.
