NXT users, gather round...

1. Differences between the liquid and the paste versions?

2. Why does it smell so horrible?

3. What's up with the spray wax? Can I spray it on my wet car and dry it off to a shine like I do with turtle wax spray wax?

Thanks in advance.

1. personal preferance

2. I love the NXT smell!

3. it must be applyed correctly, I hated this stuff untill I learned how to use it, now its one of my favorites!

this may help you too.

I Just tried NXT a week ago on my car and it's still beading like I just applied it. I'm hoping for a month out of it, if I get more than that I'll be more than happy. The gloss is decent, but the main thing is I don't want to apply wax more than I have to during the winter months. I also have to agree with Justin M., a little goes a long way!

Oh, and the smell doesn't bother me. Not the best, not the worst. As long as it doesn't smell like egg salad, its alright with me! :)

For me, the NXT paste is one of the greatest LSPs. I got 3-4 easy months with it. In mid-June, I sealed a then brand new Accord with it, and just recently winterized the car. True, the water film was clingy initially, but as it dried and started to thin, it suddenly broke, and still sheeted. That was a clear indication that the polymers were still there (albeit weakly)...

I LOVE its look and the wonderful citrusy smell. I can sniff more chemicals behind #26's synthetic banana scent. The smell is very good even compared to Victoria Waxes! But understandably, these are subjective points.

Did you say you applied #26 underneath NXT? I think #26 applied on top of NXT would be better. NXT has gentle cleaners in it I believe.

1) I have yet to try the paste.. I use the liquid and it looks amazing on EVERY color I use it on. It goes on really nice, spreads far, and is cake to take off.

2) Like said.. havent smelled the paste but IMO the liquid smells just like Sprite! I love it!

3) The liquid NXT is so easy to apply and remove I wouldnt even bother with a quick wax... just wait a couple months and reapply the NXT.

Heres a few NXT examples on different colors:

Heres my baby with a couple month old coat of NXT with 1 wash.

I've always had excellent results with NXT. I prefer the paste (sets up for removal more quickly) and I apply it via PC and a finishing pad. I have found the best durability (4+ months) is when I apply it over AIO.

Upon further review, the silver isn't quite as good as I would have hoped. It has INSANE depth now, but it took off some of the wetness (and that's really all I'm after since silver should be reflective anyway). Oh well, I'll try it out by itself when I polish next.

Thanks Justin! :D

lemans23 - Yes, it will give jaw-dropping wetness. Just don't go overboard with bonding issues. Already the NXT *shouldn't* bond over #26 because of the carnauba. However, the #26 itself contains polymers, so the issues are minor if any. Worst case scenario: you may experience a somewhat reduced durability. No biggie. I think you are rather chasing the ultimate look and not the utmost in durability.

Remember that #26 can/may hold a fair bit of static over certain products (for example NXT paste), and it can be a dust magnet next day. To reduce this, ground the car while applying the #26, or wait a day to let the #26 cure, and then run a slow stream of water over the car. Dry, done.

i love NXT. i love NXT. the smell, the look, the bomb. by the way i only have white vehicles and they POP  after NXT. DID I SAY THAT I LOVE NXT???? :chuckle:

So, I just followed you guys' advice, and my paint is completely gone!

:spot

In it's place is a pool of silver goo which goes on forever. Applied the #26 on top of the NXT, and that's just one coat, and one coat that hasn't even fully cured yet! Wait until tomorrow morning, and then that afternoon for the second coat. SWEET.

I don't think this is totally correct. Megs products are supposedly designed to work together so bonding issues shouldn't be an issue. NXT is not a pure sealant it's a synthetic wax. 26 is a silicone wax/carnauba blend.

I love the combo of #26 over the NXt. The car looks like a wet mirror. I have had no bonding issues whatsoever. Just did the car yesterday with this combo.

#26 is a poly-resin-carnauba blend; NXT is marketed as a synthetic wax but it in fact bonds and technically acts like a sealant glaze.

Edit: yep there are no bonding issues with NXT/#26. But I haven't tried NXT on top of #26 yet.
