MAC[H]Z,

Great car! Great color!

If you took the added expense and difficulty of the Zaino + S100 combo (I know pretty important stuff to disregard) and compared Z + S100 combo vs NXT just in terms of appearance ... which do you prefer?

It's difficult to say with both products leaving a great look, but NXT comes out on top just because it is so much easier to use...

These two pictures are a week apart and the fist is zaino with s100 and the second is NXT. I know it's not a great comparison but it just seems that the NXT give a little better "pop" to the color.

I personally think there is a very noticable difference between the NXT and Z finishes.

I know some will say that it's due to the different angles of the pics, but if you scroll back and forth quickly between the pics, and look at different sections of the car you can see that there is a distinct improvement in depth, wetness and shine/gloss compared to the 'Z.'

Of course this is just my opinion...take it for what it's worth

What is the best topper for NXT on dark colored paint?

I will buy NXT tomorrow and will try on my dad's black BMW.

Meguiars #16 Pro Paste Wax.....but I haven't tried anything else yet....the improvement is noticable though.

1st let me say great shine and great car...now how old was the paint before you applied NXT?....I have ordered online a couple of bottles because here in MA is not to be found...maybe because it would be a seasonal item rather than an all season product in the warmer states.....

I hope I can get the same results.... :xyxthumbs

I too have that durability issue. I just did one coat of NXT, looked awesome, but 2 weeks, 2 washes and 2 snowfalls later, it seems to be gone. Think NXT needs more time to cure on cold weather, or it doesnt hold up to morning freeze or salt/sand or something. Looking forward for summer days though.

**From what I can see in the pics, the NXT looks a bit richer in color.

Nice job!

From what I've seen, road salt == the anti-NXT.

You're not making sense, Frank. My statement above is intended to mean that road salt apparently destroys NXT's protective abilities ("road salt == the anti-NXT"). NXT doesn't stand up to road salt. Road salt degrades NXT. I don't know how many other ways to say it.

The anti-icing chemical you mention is simply salt brine (either sodium or calcium chloride, I don't recall which). Nebraska DOT applies salt brine prior to severe winter storms as well as applying a sand and solid-salt mix during and after. That doesn't really change the fact that (in my experience and that of a few other salt-belt Autopians) road salt, which mixes with water to form salt brine, empirically causes rapid failure of beading and slickness of NXT.

So just what is it you're trying to ask (or imply)?

We had 2 snow storms this week and as always they put plenty of salt on the roads here in NH and after a wash this morning it looks the same as it did when I first used NXT.

I've only had it on for a week but so far so good.....

What kind of foam pads do you guys use to apply NXT? I want to use my PC.

Hi Classy Detail,

I find I get the best results using the Meguiar's W-8006 on the 4.0 or lower setting. Coming up in the month of April, I have a full month of some really cool clinics, check them out here,

http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/calendar.php?s=&month=4&year=2004

If your free on one of these Saturday clinics, why do you stop on by? Clinics start at 8:30 and go till the last man standing. The Corvette, Viper and Ferrari clinics are going to be a blast!

Here is Va where they minimize the "amount" of salt and brine pre-treatment the NXT exposure to this combination had no effect on my wife's black LS400 daily driver. As a side note carnaubas fair very well here also.

With that stated Nebraska has more severe winters they we do so it would not be surprising if "all" protectants have shorter life-spans.

Tort is just reporting his personal observations with NXT and should be taken as that. Not a knock on NXT but an observation. Mike P stated that durability has toooooo many variables to quantitate a true value. Obviously, Nebraska is tooo tuff for NXT on a daily driver and a more durable protectant should be used in the winter.

I believe this is important to know before one spends their last good fall weekend preparing for winter with the expectation that NXT will hold up. Many of us use differing protectants for differing season of the year. Hell, if it snowed that much the ultimate appearance factor is hiddened by all that winter scum so protection should take priority. JMHO

I have tested NXT topped with:

Souveran

P21S

#26

#16.

1st - #16 wins hands down :bow

2nd - Souveran

3rd - #26

4th - P21S (I must re-visit this test. I expected better results)

JMHO :wavey
