This past weekend I used Nufinish on my 1987 Toyoto Camry station wagon. The car only has 152,000 miles but since my daughter purchased a 2000 Forerunner , the poor old Toyoto never gets driven. I value the car at 1500 hundred dollars and believe it is worth more but it is so old. I decided to use Nufinish because its cheap, long lasting and made for old beaters.
I wanted to play. Got out my PC and used the white pad that came with the PC. Didn't want to use a good pad. I thought (ok now I am in trouble) I would use the product like a polish and a sealer and save a step. I did the roof and hood. It went very well and the slight residue buffed off easy. Then I hand applied the product. Redoing the hood and roof and the rest of the car. Now I got into trouble. The more loaded the sponge like applicator became the thicker the application. The hood and roof buffed off without a problem. The rest was a PIA to buff. I tried QD, Wet MF and AIO. Nothing helped, man that Nufinish is tough. The trick to removal was redoing a panel with Nufinish and then immediately buffing.
My wife thinks I am nuts. She says I am putting more work into the car than the car is worth. She is right (again) but I cann't help it, I am an Autopian.
The car looks very nice but I would like to put a topper over the Nufinish. Any suggestions for a topper?
