NUfinish

This past weekend I used Nufinish on my 1987 Toyoto Camry station wagon. The car only has 152,000 miles but since my daughter purchased a 2000 Forerunner , the poor old Toyoto never gets driven. I value the car at 1500 hundred dollars and believe it is worth more but it is so old. I decided to use Nufinish because its cheap, long lasting and made for old beaters.

I wanted to play. Got out my PC and used the white pad that came with the PC. Didn't want to use a good pad. I thought (ok now I am in trouble) I would use the product like a polish and a sealer and save a step. I did the roof and hood. It went very well and the slight residue buffed off easy. Then I hand applied the product. Redoing the hood and roof and the rest of the car. Now I got into trouble. The more loaded the sponge like applicator became the thicker the application. The hood and roof buffed off without a problem. The rest was a PIA to buff. I tried QD, Wet MF and AIO. Nothing helped, man that Nufinish is tough. The trick to removal was redoing a panel with Nufinish and then immediately buffing.

My wife thinks I am nuts. She says I am putting more work into the car than the car is worth. She is right (again) but I cann't help it, I am an Autopian.

The car looks very nice but I would like to put a topper over the Nufinish. Any suggestions for a topper?

For something cheap and easy, try Mother's Carnauba. But for a really good shine at a decent price, try #26. You'll really like it.

Blitz, P21S, Pinnacle Souveran/Paste Glaz, Meguiar's #26, Eagle One WET Paste wax, Meguar's #16, 3M Perfect It Show Car wax, Mother's Step 3 pure carnauba....basically any wax that has no cleaning abilities.

Oh wow, I never even checked and didn't know the WET paste was cleaner-free. I just assumed it was like the liquid. :p

I threw a quick coat of Klasse SG on the hood of my parents' van (it was pretty faded) since I had a bit left in my squeeze bottle. I think it did help a tiny bit, but I think the paint is damaged and needs repainting or heavy polishing. It sure helped it feel more buttery though. I don't know how well the SG bonded, but I'm just assuming it worked since SG can be put on perfect bare paint and people have used it over other stuff like Liquid Glass.

I'll probably cover the whole van with #26 at some point since it's more durable than P21S.

The maximum protection available for your car’s finish while providing unsurpassed depth of shine.

Eagle One WET Paste Wax has no equal for providing long-lasting protection. Its resistance to heat, acid rain, bird droppings and other environmental fallout is unparalleled within our line.

Safe for clear-coated and non-clear-coated surfaces, it does not contain cleaners and is designed as a final step in your car’s maintenance. Incredibly effective on dark colors, it provides unsurpassed depth of shine.

Long-lasting protection

Highly resistant to damage

Clear-coat safe

Ideal for dark colors

From what I hear, its a good wax.

Let me make this more difficult. Which topper will not stain the trim and can be used with a PC, give a very good shine and not break the bank.

Thanks for your response.

I agree with Scottwax. I only use Meguiar's #26 with the PC now in the wax department.

Yeah...there is something about my PC and #26 that make them go really well together...not to mention a coat of #7 just before that. :xyxthumbs

I would suggest Meguiars Gold Class.

I would love to see the pics of the Camry

Not sure. I do not use it. I just use my Crystal Glo with Meguiars QD and Scratch x on the scratches.

I have been told that Gold Class is very good though.

S100, the cycle version of P21S. Creamy, easy to remove, $15 for probably 60-80 really nice shines. (That's $0.21/shine to guys like you and me!)

#26 is trim-friendly? I wasn't aware of that; cool. Residue on trim is high on my list of dislikes for any wax/sealant . . .

Same. It's not mentioned much, but after digging around a lot I found that out about #26. I'll be putting on #26 later on, so I'll know for sure! :D
