Not waxed for nearly two years, look what ONR can do!

2005 Escalade, waxed it sometime in the fall of 2006 when he got it. Washed every two weeks or so with Optimum No Rinse since then. I believe I am the only one who washes it since every two weeks (unless it stays dry the whole time in between) it is pretty dirty.

Look at how fast it starts to bead up, obviously the polymers in ONR that lift the dirt are doing something to keep the paint beading.

I also uploaded a video of me washing one of the doors with ONR, it is processing right now, I'll post the link as soon as the video is ready.

Nice Scott. I have noticed the same beading with ONR. I have some clients that haven't had their cars waxed in God knows how long and when I use ONR it still beads up pretty nicely.

Scott, where did you get that microfiber covered foam wash media? Is it expensive?

I have always wondered how the "something left behind" which causes the water beading doesn't cause sealants to have trouble bonding. Odd.

Neat. Wouldn't that just be the surfactants in the ONR causing that? The idea behind rinse-less washes is to lift dirt off the panel by reducing surface tension of the water. This is the same reason waxes/sealants bead, it's reducing the surface tension of the paint.

I have been trying to find Scott's car wash post for two days. Thanks for posting it, John. Don't know why it's not in the hall of fame, or at least a sticky in the detailing forum.

Detailer's Choice Microfiber Contour Sponge. I get them at Big Lots for $2 each. The hold up a really long time too. Been rotating the same 3 for several months now. Have about 6-7 more that I haven't even used. Had no idea how long Big Lots would have them in stock but as of a week ago, they had some at the one in north Arlington.

On completely unwaxed, older paint, ONR will NOT bead like that until you've used it a couple times.

You're the pro here. I've got a 32oz bottle I've been meaning to get around to using. :woot:

Heck I still have QEW floating around. :2thumbs:

Hey Fluxy, I found that bottle of Z-CS! : D

Edit: Doh, that was meant to be a PM... Guess that's what I get for having too many windows open at once.

Thanks Scott. Maybe I missed it, but where can I get that sponge you used in the video? Looks perfect for an ONR wash...
