New Wax to Try

I copied this post from another site.. the guy had just been complemented that his bumper looked like chrome since it was so bright...

Andy G- Thanks for the compliment! Ive never been a fan of Zaino. Dont get me wrong, its good stuff, but they have a bottle of wax for each step it seems. You may think this is crazy about what I use but its the best stuff for glossy shine and protection from the elements. I use a fiberglass boat wax! Its Collinite's No. 925. If its good enough for the harsh ocean environment, its got to be great for auto's. Water runs off the paint like water on a ducks back! And it lasts!!!! Doesnt loose its protection after a few car washes. The only place Ive been able to find it is Bass Pro Shops! I also use the Wax Shop's "Super Glaze". Its also great stuff, easy on-easy off. Hope this helps ya out.

anyone try this before? meaning the product, not just a different wax.. or maybe you did try a boat wax..

Just saw it on the jet ski post... sounds interesting I have a bass pro shop about 5 miles from me. I'll have to check it out.

As a matter of fact, my dad just told me that he used it and he LOVES the stuff! I smelled it in the bottle and I caught a killer buzz! (JK, but the stuff is STRONG!) He probably used it about a month ago, so when I am over there this weekend, I will see how it is holding up.

I'll have to check it out. Collinite's automotive waxes did pretty good at thewaxtest.org, a little above average shine, but way, way above average in durability. The Bass Pro Shop near Grapevine Mills is not too far from me.

this statement is not debateable....Collinite is the best wax on the market in my opinion but the problem is putting it on and taking it off is a pain in the ***.They make a liquid Collinite but it is not as good. there top of the line wax is 24.95 but you can pick it up for 20.00 dollars and get ready to work your butt off look at there wbbsight collinite.com its the first wax in the picture

I bought some Collinite #915 Marque D'Elegance and received this email from Mike Taylor ([email protected]) when I was researching this stuff.

"Thank you for you interest in Collinite products. Here is the information you are interested in regarding our products:

1. #845 Insulator Wax - our best selling car wax - people prefer this product because of its easy on, easy off application. Sells for $13.95 per bottle.

2. #476s Super Doublecoat Paste wax - by far our most durable paste wax, a bit harder to apply and remove compared to the #845. Because it contains more wax per ounce it is more durable when it comes to shine and protection. I would recommend this one. Sells for $14.20 per 9 oz. can.

3. #915 Marque D'Elegance-comes from the same formalation as the #476s except it contains 24% more carnuba wax and has a coconut fragrance smell to it. It sells for $25 per can but I tell most people that if they are looking to save money and still get a great shine buy the #476s. If you did one side of the hood with #476s and #915 with the other side you wouldn't notice a major difference.

Hope this helps in your decision. Feel free to drop us an email if you have any further questions."

I ended up buying the #915. I paid $22.95 for a 12 oz. can at dccarcare.com. I washed, clayed, 3M IHG, and then put one coat of #915 on about 6 weeks ago and have really been pleased to this point. I just went to my local Harley Davidson dealer and bought some PS100 for $14.95 for 6.2 oz and plan to layer this over the Collinite.

At some point I need to repair some chips and paint damage (hoping to get a picture to ask for some advice) and then I plan to use my Blackfire polish and protectant, then Collinite, then PS100.

Collinite makes a good durable wax with an ok shine. All in all i think it's a good wax that's just very hard to work with. I stopped using the #476 wax, i now use Blitz in it's place. Blitz has a much better shine good durabilty and it's a pleasure to work with. IMHO Blitz is a better wax.

I am just curious how you can consider a wax that is a pain in the rectal area to use can be the best wax on the market. Not trying to start anything, but ease of use is an important part of how good a wax is. As much as I love the intense wet shimmer you get with Pinnacle Souveran, if it was a PITA to use, I would switch to something else with as close to the same shine as possible.

BTW, thanks for the link to the site. I am fixin' to check it out.

YOUR NOT STARTING ANYTHING and thats a good question..........My good friend swears by Collinate uses it on all his cars and wifes cars and kids cars.Black navy white red just about all the colors in the spectrum. This wax lasts and lasts and lasts like the EVERREADY BUNNY.It is a real pain to put on and take off thats why people switch to the liquid version of the wax.If you dont mind struggling (some people dont)and really working up a sweat to put it on and take it off (you can use a PC)then there is no problem. This wax lasts 4-5 months yes you heard me and ive seen it with my own eyes.Souvern which I love (along with Blitz and P21S and Griots Best of Show)Souvern will last 2 months at best.My friend believes in waxing cars no more than 2-3 times a year with these results.,and his cars shine There is no right and wrong to each there own .Can somebody please tell me where COLLIATE places in the new waxtest? just courious

Ok, for those of you who use Collinite, which do you think is the better combo, and why?

1) Klasse AIO + Blitz

2) Collinite

Shine, durability, application time, etc. Based on what I have read, option #1 seems better.

I use Collinite, I love it, it lasts!! I think it was november when i first waxed with it, and I finally re-waxed only a few weeks ago, it lasted that long and still looked good.

when I initially posted this thread, it was more as a joke since I thought that

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE

would be using a boat wax on their car.... BOY was I wrong on that one... after reading the posts in here.. I may have to try it out..

or I could do like my mother in law did once and use Johnson Liquid Floor Wax and it lasts for years!!!! lol

dboat:D

Well, some products are just relabeled, and apparently it happens a lot when things get sold to different markets. Meguiars makes a "Boat/RV" line, and the S100 mentioned below is acutally P21S except it's "for motorcycles". I wouldn't be at all surprised if Collinite #925 was actually #845. They look the same if those are clear bottles...

EDIT: now that I think of it, some people here DO use their Fleetwax.

If you can find a similar trick with Collinite products and the marine line is cheaper, you've hit gold! :xyxthumbs

Woah... I was browsing their website and Collinite has distrubution in Canada. In fact, their Western Canada distributor is located in historic Steveston - not too far away! They probably specialize in their boat wax, but I wonder if they can order the auto stuff in....

Oh well, just FYI for any interested Canucks :p I bought my #26 already....

Wow, talk about a glassy reflective shine. If I saw that pic without knowing it was collonite, I would have guess either Zaino or Pinnacle.

4DSC...I looked up the same thing after I read this thread. Steveston is about 20 minutes away from where I live. I might have to check it out this weekend!

I wish Zaino and Klasse were so easy to find up here!
