Fellow PakShak fans,

Ranney has update his site to discuss their new MF cleaning product. It appears it is due out in mid January.

Just thought you might have an interest:

How did you get the website to load? I have not been able to get his site to open since around X-mas.

Interesting. How does this differ from MicroRestore? Or the Pinnacle Reju or Sonus DerWunderWashe. So many products! AHHH!

Is it the same as Micro-restore? I cant help but notice the simularities??

Micro-Restore

I duno! LOL

It does look similar Chris...I don't know the answer but hopefully Ranney will chime in.

I suspect a reformulation here, not a rebranding but I'm not close to PakShak's development team.

This is from an email Ranney sent me!

"First, I wanted to tell you that it is not a repackaged product from

another company. We were introduced some time back to a chemist who

agreed to work on the formulation of our MICROPAK Micro Fiber Cleaner &

Revitalizer. We have been testing the MICROPAK Micro Fiber Cleaner &

Revitalizer for several months now. And we are very pleased with the

end product. It is concentrated so a little will go a long way. For

example, you would use

1 oz for smaller loads (10 towels or less)

2 oz for larger loads (10+ towels) Max: 25 towels +/-5

"

I hope it helps.

Hope it can replace laundry detergent overall :D. Mine's one ounce per average size load.

Well, I've made no secret of not being impressed by these microfiber-specific cleaners. I don't think MicroRestore or Pinnacle do much beyond standard detergent and I seriously doubt this new product will add much either. But, again, that is just my opinion and I'm open to being disproved.

What i have trouble understanding is is why some companies carry more than one of this type of product when it is not clear what the differences are.

For example Premium Auto Care is carrying, the pinnacle product, microrestore and micropak. Why, for example, should I buy micropak (or for that matter the pinnacle product) from premiumautocare if microrestore is a couple of dollars cheaper?

just my 2 cents....

I can only go by my personal experience but I noticed a big improvement over Tide HE (in a front loader Neptune) from both Pinnacle and Sonus Wunder Wasche.

I think standard detergents have to handle a variety of types of laundry but formulations for MF cleaning can be more targeted for smaller, synthetic fibers.

I'm sure not gonna tell you that you can't tell if it works for you or not, so please don't take this the wrong way. Heh heh, I know you can tell how a load of wash turns out :D When I first tried it, I was ready to cry "snake oil!" as it didn't do much of anything for me either.

In my case it *does* work wonders, but (really *big* "but") I had to wash my MFs (and regular towels) in hot water over and over and over without detergent for an incredible number of cycles (many with distilled white vinegar) to get all the [stuff] out of them first. Once I got them decontaminated, the MicroRestore has kept them that way. Whenever I quit using it, after a few "regular" washes they start to stiffen up and quit absorbing again.

If the MicroRestore hasn't solved the problem, you might have a situation like mine, where sorta drastic measures are called for, at least initially.

CostaK- Maybe I'm just cynical (who, *me* :o ) but I'd say they carry them because some people will buy stuff from one manufacturer but not from another and it's all about offering products that will sell. And some people would rather buy stuff from one vendor over another if given the chance.

Like you, I wonder if there's any real *functional* difference in these products, but there are some vendors I'll gladly pay a little more to support.

I tired Wunder Wasche 2 oz for 9 towels in my front loader and found it lacking at that measure. I don't think it was the Wasche, I think it was my hard water. I usually have to use 35-50% more of a product to get the desired effect at this house. I plan to try 3 OZ next time I do a load of MF.

Currently, I use 3 oz of the fancy Liquid Detergant my wife buys at Whole Foods (cant remember the name). Its all natual, biodegradable and most importantly; it doesnt cause my baby boy to break out. Results have been stellar, but I like trying new products/methods. I plan on trying vinegar in the Risne cycle on the next batch using this detergant.
