New Chrysler is pumpin out some hp!

This is the new Chrysler 300 C SRT-8. (Picture is from fast-autos.net)It's gonna have 85 more horsepower than the regular ones. Still has the hemi V8 in it and it goes from 0-60 in 5 seconds. I would sure like to own a car like this!

IMOO, i think Daimler/Chrysler is making the most beautiful domestic cars available......They sure have come a long way.

I don't like the 300 at all but I do agree with our statement. My buddy works for them and owns a Pacifica and Crossfire and they are both nice rides and I have driven in the new Magnum and think that is nice as well.

I agree...it appears that domestic car makers have finally broken out of that boring cookie cutter platform they've been using for the last 20 years.

It's good to some some classic elements in the new designs.

I always wondered why car manufacturers didn't re-introduce the classics...I know they would sell them as fast as they could make them.

But with the designs they're introducing lately the'll be creating new classics!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely disagree. The new 300M gets a 10 for style but a 1 for originality, as Rolls Royce and Bentley have already done the front square grille and chunky lines--it is completely unoriginal. Daimler is keeping Chrysler alive otherwise they'd be going the way of the Plymouth--its the only reason the Crossfire sells. The Impala is a joke from what it once was (even as recently as the 94-96 models). The GTO is a cheesy Grand Prix with an LS1 stuffed in it. The list goes on and on.

The overdone retro look is the result of lack of creativity. There is definitely a line between integrating and inundating a car with retro themes. When have you ever seen Audi, BMW, etc go "retro"? They don't, because they are constantly being innovative and cutting edge. BMW, for example, does a great job of retaining certain trademarks into their design without making a car look retro--see the kidney shaped front grille. Or have a look at Porsche with their classic sloped rear deck. To me, retro is an easy, lazy way of designing a car because you do not have to be nearly as creative. It is a fad and a novelty, and hopefully it goes away soon here in the States.

I think Chrysler had been doing good exterior designs for several years - Viper, PT Crusier, 300, Magnum, (other names I can't remember at the moment). I would be concerned about reliability.

The BMW - 500 and 700 and IMHO are ugly. Especially the trunk! I've seen quite a few cutting edge autos - Infinity FXs for one that are just butt ugly.

I certainly understand that its all subjective and a matter of opinion, so my views can't really be qualified...But I will give you the Viper, its a very nice car (designed by a non-American though, I think he's Japanese).

Well I love the new BMW's, those kinds of designs grow on people, they don't go out like a fad (see Ford Thunderbird). Lastly, I didn't mention Japanese auto makers, but I still think they're ahead of Domestic cars.

Well put, thats the first thing that came to mind when i saw them. Personally not a fan of the look of the magnum either, looks like a big suped up hearse.

The 5 series has been growing on me, but i absolutley love the 7, one of the more beautiful cars on the road. Just personal pref.

yeah sort of, but not really. I saw an old school mini cooper yesterday I couldn't believe how small it is. We damn near ran it over with a 2500 Dodge Cummins

in person at the mall the to other day - very very nice!! :)

I think of the big three Chrysler is taking the most risks with styling - and winning at least imho.

What exactly are you disagreeing with?...I never said that their designs were original...I said that they were finally deviating from their previously boring designs by incorporating classic elements.... regardless of where those elements came from.

I agree the Impala of today is a joke but the mid 70's Mustang

was a pretty sorry excuse for a car too....look at it now.

And they brought it back by incorporating some of the classic elements.

Whether you or I like the final design is of course a matter of personal preference. ;)

Carol Shelby helped design the Viper, not some Japanese guy.....And your right, views are subjective, and my view states Chrysler is making awesome looking vehicles...I think the Magnum is one hot S.O.B. That may be why there so hard to get a old of.......Do you think any Jaguar lines have inspired Ford engineering ? Next time a 2000 Taurus gets next to a "S" type, take a look at the rear deck....Who cares if Daimler helped Chrysler ! There making an awesome product....

The new chrysler is all that and then some. They are also reportedly coming out with a hotter version with 400+ hp. Why buy the Caddy when you can have more power, nicer styling (IMO), and affordability?

Chrysler gets my respect this time, because they've beaten GM and Ford with better styling and a more desirable product.

Not touching the quality of a BMW or a Mercedes of course, but I probably would lean much closer to the hot 300C with 400+ hp than to blow it on a used M5 (even though the M5 is an awesome automobile, bar none!).
