New car, what to use?

Just sold my maroon toyota tacoma and got a white 2004 civic. The paint is very smooth on it, so I wont do clay now, but I was thinking my next day off putting some KAI on (should I use my pc or hand) and some Mequire#26 caranuba on top right after words with my finishing pad on the pc. Does this sound good for a good shine? Also can I use the KAI on the aluminum rims? Thanks,

Dave

AIO will work very well to give you a general cleaning and a bit of protection. I would recommend claying however as with around two years of your Civic being out in the world there are likely contaminants on the paint. I would use the AIO with a polishing pad, just keep in mind it won't tackle any tough swirls and scratches. You can use it on your aluminum wheels too. I'd put something like Klasse SG on after it or another good sealant.

As for #26 it is an excellent wax and will darken your paint slightly. It does give a nice warm glow too. If you want to make the white pop look into a sealant like Poorboy's EX or EX-P, 4* UPP as they are great on light coloured paint. Some people have also topped with original Natty's paste wax or Natty's Blue.

The key to making white stand out is to have all the trim, wheels, tires and wheel wells dressed and the glass polished to create a contrast. I hope this was of some help, don't hesitate to ask anything further.

Thanks guys--thats what I was looking for--Ill do the wash, clay, wash, KAIO, then get some Poorboys and top it all off with that and a finishing pad on my pc. Thanks,

Dave

OK last question--so can I do the AIO then the top it with some Poorboys? Which poorboys should I use? I have never used thier products before. Thanks again,

Poorboys, you can use EX, EX-P, Nattys, Nattys Blue.. they are all fine - it just depends on the look and durability you want afterwards. EX-P is probably the most durable and long lasting protection.

I think I am confusing myself now---but I ordered the klasse sealant, so I thought i would do the AIO, Klasse Sealant, then top with some #26--does this sound good?

Dave

If you do the AIO and the SG, then you don't need to top with anything. If you do top SG with #26, you won't be able to add more layers of SG.

My experience is that #26 can be a dust magnet.

My 2006 Honda is a billit silver color and although not white of course it is very, very light. I've tried lots of stuff over the past year and for a light color here is what I find works best for me.

I won't go into prep as everyone knows that is most important. I go with AIOx2 then SGx3 spaced 12 hours apart. If it were a darker color I might go with a carnuba wax but that would hinder my "rejuvenating" efforts. I say that because I use a home brew of 3 parts distilled water to 1 part SG in a mister bottle after most every wash. This works like many "topper" products such as Sonus Spritz, Wolfgang Spritz, Menzerna HGAS and Duragloss' Aquawax. It gives added protection and enhanced gloss and there is no bonding issues since it is part SG afterall.

My home brew does not clean very well so I always use Poorboys SW as my primary quick detailer. I think on a lighter color, the steps and products I mentioned will give you good protection for at least six months and enough "pop" to make any detailer proud!

You're very welcome Dave glad we could help. You could just do the AIO and SG and it will look great. If you want you can put #26 on top but like smprince1 said you won't be able to add anymore SG. Let us know how it looks after you get it done.
