I gave you my own opinion, which like any reasonable person, is based on certain facts that I've ascertained in one way or another. If my doctor tells me I need a to start taking a "statin", what I would do is find the most relevant material on statins, read it and
form my opinion. If someone than asked me "why" I had such an opinion, I'd state it, link to the supporting evidence for my opinion and call it a day. Not really rocket science.
