Need Wheel Brush - Suggestions?

It`s time to add another wheel brush to the collection.

I have:
- Daytona Speedmaster (regular size)
- Wheel Woolies brushes (Medium and small)
- Wheel Woolies Boars Hair
- Carrand Lug Nut Brush (?)
- Carrand Sheepskin Brush (so soft, I can`t get myself to use this).

Anyway, I was working on my mother-in-law`s Infiniti and her wheels have way too many "spokes" for lack of a better word. There were some tight spots in between them that none of my brushes were being effective. I thought about a tooth brush, but couldn`t find the one I use for detailing, and didn`t want to get a new one from my bin (used for my teeth!). Also, I think the bristles might be too soft.

Any suggestions for something small that can effectively remove the crud from tighter spaces on wheels?

You`re going to need one of those swissvax style brushes. Hair length not too long - just dense enough to have some bite.
Even with a PW, you need to use something just to remove the film that is left behind

JustJesus- You already know what a huge BHB fan I am (and I have the WheelWoolies kit too). That said, I`d clean those wheels with something else. Some kind of "three-finger" mitt/sponge. Yeah, it`ll still take longer than you`d like.

I did use a good chemical and pressure washer, but still got aggressive with the brushes on hand.

The small Woolie did fit, but isn`t aggressive enough for that stubborn caked on crud. Did someone say, "cake?" I`m hungry.

Yikes those are *tight* spokes! No thanks!

I`d go with a pw to knock off the majority of the gunk > Sonax-FE to eat away the brake dust > and a wire wheel brush + 1" WW brush to agitate whatever is leftover. Then clay and coat those suckers!!

And while we`re on the topic - avoid using the Carrand Lug Nut Brush. After a while the ends of the brush start flatting out exposing the metal loops underneath = your lug nut holes getting scrapped up. I`d share a photo if I hadn`t already pitched the brush. Oh and the wire holding the bristles start to rust after a while too... junk.

Huh, see how perceptions differ?!? I have the same ones, and the "big foam swab" things too, but wouldn`t use `em for that. Maybe I`m completely off-base there! Wouldn`t be the first time

I wonder if that little mitt would be aggressive enough. I already did as much as I could with what I had, but a few tight spots remain bad. As for time, not really an issue. It`s a free job for the mother-in-law, a labor of love, and more importantly, a challenge I need to overcome!

No thanks indeed! Yeah, I hate those wheels. I did use Poorboy`s Spray & Rinse. I`ll see (but doubt) if the Sonax will make a difference. I still have some left.

Nope. The smaller one didn`t work. UNLESS, you guys are referring to the Wheel Woolies small brush linked a couple of times. The ones I have are the swab looking things.

I think the Poorboy`s Spray & Rinse IS acid based. I think. I`m pretty sure. What I do know, is it`s quite strong, and it did some [expected] slight damage to uncoated AL wheels I have. (I knew it would, but I had to see for myself). On these Infiniti wheels, there are some spots where the cc is gone.

I oughta try mine some day, just sits in a drawer for some reason.

A set of boars hair brushes for the win! There is a size to get in every nook and cranny for all types of wheels.

That`s a tough job. If the smallest wheel woolie brush didn`t work (I know you tried it) then wrap a microfiber towel around a screwdriver or finger and do your best. Those wheels look like a major pita. Good luck. Hit them with some Hydro2 if you do get them clean, for the next time. Lol.

I would use a terry towel (I know I said it) and wheel cleaner like bdx and go to town. Just wear gloves so hand doesn`t get dried out

I`ll order the small speed master, along with a couple of others. Right tool for the job and all that. But I can`t just let it go. Not this time, at least. I`m stuck in OCD mode on this one

I did use iron remover after using the wheel cleaner. I *always* wear gloves when dealing with those types of chemicals.

wise guy, eh? haha... I keep them on hand for grimey work, or for hand polishing single stage (as rare as that would be)
