Need Wheel Brush - Suggestions?

Mike -

Do those BHB works for you. I`ve got s similar blond hair variant in the larger 5-6" squarish wheel style. I find it too soft.

Still resort to my Swissvax ones. I think they are sold under a different name literally called ~famous detailing brush~.
It`s much denser for wheelwork

Huh, see how perceptions differ?!? I have the same ones, and the "big foam swab" things too, but wouldn`t use `em for that. Maybe I`m completely off-base there! Wouldn`t be the first time ;)

I oughta try mine some day, just sits in a drawer for some reason.

well, you may not like the sheepskin brush...different perceptions and all. haha

I`d probably try the foam swab looking ones first in his position...my mind would want to reach for my speedmaster jr but it spits back at me all the time so I try not to use it when I don`t have to

A set of boars hair brushes for the win! There is a size to get in every nook and cranny for all types of wheels.

"I`m just going to clean this happy little wheel". Even Bob Ross would be jealous of that brush collection. God rest his soul.

I like the feel of the one inch brush on wheel recesses/spokes.

Nice cart and brush collection. Ever try the Atlasta brush? Not soft, but works well when you needs a straight stiffer brush. Atlasta is great for cup holders and other hard plastics.

I have seen the famous detail brush your talking about but don`t have it. I am happy with the set of BHB that I have. If I find I need a stiffer brush I have a Atlasta brush that is stiffer that allows a little more working action when needed.

Exactly. The Blonde ones from Universal can indeed be too soft and IMO most people are better off with the Montana version (for washing the vehicle`s body proper). IMO the BHB for Wheels from Wheel Woolies is utterly superior to any other such BHB on the market, but eh...things do change.

For stubborn marks on wheels... You guessed it.
MAGIC ERASER
I dunno...the (usually powdercoated) finish on wheels is tough, but it still mars. I don`t like the idea of using anything on a wheel that I wouldn`t use on the hood (back side/barrels excepted).

I worry about the sheepskin not dong the "flush stuff away" and/or retaining something really abrasive.

On the Speedmaster/etc. I must be the only guy here who doesn`t think they`re safe for wheels (in the non-marring sense). I do use them for some undercarrige work though, really good for cleaning in the coil springs and not bad for getting between the driveshaft and the belly pan when marring isn`t a concern.

Looking at that particular wheel, I think I`d end up cutting a few "dish sponges" in half, to use with Sonax. Not the kind with green scrubbing surfaces though.
Throw some electrical or masking tape on a scredriver and pop the caps off first.

im with you, i think the speedmasters scratch. i know they scratched my gloss black wheels for sure.

i use them for fender wells and such now and bought the full woolie set.

honestly im glad to have seen that they scratch my black wheels because 1) i could legitimately justify buying all new bhb/woolies and 2)i dont end up scratching someone elses wheels.

i still use one for my trucks wheels but i cant even see any marring on it nor would it really bother me that much i suppose, never really liked those stock nissan wheels anyways.

Thx for confirming re: speedmasters and my notion they would scratch. Just more ~pronounced~ because of the color.

My current car wash medium of choice - pressure washer. Any old mitt just to wipe the film. Not noticable on silver wheels, but on custom wheels with a darker color, film is noticable sans pressure washer.

I like the WW for speed and no ~overspray~. IF I need to a deep cleaning of a wheel and get into tight clearances due to BIG rotors, no clearance, I use my Powersticks. IME PS Flex, so they really contour the ID of the wheel and get`s them clean. Only drawback is it`s a slightly messy operation...

Gee, for once I`m not the only guy talking about the Speedmasters/EZ/etc. capacity for marring :D

tropicsteve- Yeah, I`ve used those on new-to-me vehicles that needed an aggressive approach. Liked them better than the similar yellow ones I got elsewhere.
