Need help with color selection for new vehicle!!

I have finally decided to ditch the 4Runner and am now searching for an Audi A6. I am certain that I want a A6 after initially considering a CTS.

The main thing is I want my Audi to be able to show my efforts in cleaning the car. I was orginally after a black one until I found out that their clear coats were MEGA hard and also until I saw a picture of a detailed silver car! Traditionally, Audi's are said to look the best in silver.

I am afraid that I will mess up the black paint on my A6 since this will be the first time using a porter cable and will be very dissapointed. Silver cars are much easier to get looking good, but they do not have the same "wet" look that the black cars do.

So I ask you guys..... should I get a black or silver A6. Personal preferences are invited and also I would love to hear from people who have detailed both silver and black cars!

Thanks

Well, coming from someone who owns to black vehicles, I say black. I really don't like silver cars, but there are many who do. A black car will definitely require more time and effort, o if you don't have time, go with the silver.

I've never worked on Audi clear, but I wish you the best in making your decision.

Why not choose something completely different, perhaps a metallic blue or red? With black it'll show every single scratch and every speck of dust, and with silver you'll never really see a big difference after you've spent hours and hours polishing it. So if you choose something in the middle, you might have more fun with it. I know that for my next Corvette I want to get it in a metallic blue or metallic red, something which won't show the defects as much, but will still have an amazing pop to it once it's shined up. In fact, I believe a bright metallic color has more of a wow factor when it's all shined up compared to black.

I love my '01 A6, but the Racing Green is a bit dated. I like the Oyster Gray Metallic in current models.

If its a daily driver then I would probably shy away from black. It's a fun challenge trying to keep it clean but it gets tiresome after a while imo.

I like the midnight blue a lot!!! This will be a daily driver so I may have to shy away from black eventhough the results are jaw dropping!!

Here are some pictures so you guys could get a better idea.

Brilliant Black

Whatcha guys think??

Glad you seem to like the blue as well, properly detailed that pearl effect will look very classy with some tinted windows as well. Good luck on your search, can't wait to see pictures.

Dolphin gray all the way. It's Thanksgiving morning and guess where I just was. In my driveway washing one of my three black cars. Meanwhile, my charcoal Tundra hasn't been washed in three weeks and still looks clean. That Dolphin color looked really elegant. Since it's a daily driver, stay away from the the dark colors. Unless you want to spend more time cleaning than driving!

Thanks for the reply guys. Yes, the midnight blue is dirty! I could not find any clean midnight blue A6s in the short amount of time I had.

I am really leaning towards the dolphin grey and the midnight blue. By the way, I am going to tint the windows and that would compliment both colors in my opinion.

If you also like the Dolphin Grey, I have seen many around the area with tinted windows and I think they look very classy.

I feel you can't go wrong with either of the three.

Black looks best properly detailed. I feel the blue is so close to black you will feel it needs the same TLC as black. The gray, IMO, is a very happy medium. It will hide defects pretty well and look great detailed. In your circumstance, I would choose Gray. Just say no to SILVER
