NanoSkin towel

From what I have been told, this is the difference between...

Clayblock vs SSPT/Autoscrub pad

Older formulation of rubber material

More abrasive formula (different process)

Foam is stiffer and inferior

Life expectancy is far less with the block.

I thought laziness was? :tongue1:

Exactly why I never bought into the block. CG says it'll last up to 4 vehicles, that never sounded promising or cost effective.

But I'm wondering, how long are these pads supposed to last when compared to the towel? I've been trying to research and have seen anywhere from 4 to 20 vehicles. While I would love to use it, it doesn't seem as cost effective as the towel.

I've become a big fan this towel since I started using it.

It fits right into my traditional system:

Clean the wheels and soap the lower parts of the car.

Wash the car and rinse - don't dry - there's no point.

Spray the whole car with soap.

And here's the part that's probably most different from what others are doing. Once I've got the car wet down with soap, I rinse out my top of the car wash sponge and use it to push the towel against the car. This creates more surface area of contact and keeps the pressure more even than holding the towel against the car with my hand. It makes the process faster - more surface is covered with each movement - and there's less risk of marring because there's less spot pressure.

I get around the car very quickly this way, then rinse and move on, drying, polishing, etc. I also wear amplifying/noise cancelling headphones and can hear as the towel gets quiet as the contamination is removed, and if the towel picks up anything substantial and needs to be rinsed out, but that's probably overkill and just an expression of personal neurosis.

I got my towel in the other day and used ONR on my Ram tailgate with additional marring on the paint. My dilution is pretty strong though, 1oz per 32oz in my Kwazar bottle. I would be interested in seeing what others use as a QD with the towel. I would really hate to be limited to using only 1 suggested lube. Understandable since the towel manufacturer also makes the lube for it.

For $16.95 for a 16oz bottle of the Glide right off the bat it dilutes to 1gal if you are using it with the Autoscrub Pad or Towel. Its really hard to beat for the price on a Lubricant in general let alone for the fact that the Pad and Towel were designed to be used with it, along with the other reasons David@Innovative Detailing mentioned.

Excuse the blurry cell phone pics, but wanted to show you what came in today. :spot

For a limited time, we will be selling it for $49.99 and include a FREE 16 oz HD Touch. :wow:

Look for it in the next 24-48 hours on hdcarcare.com and 3dproducts.com.

Yup, Any lube will work! Do not fall into the "Hype" peeps! HD Touch will work as well as any lube. I have used the nanoskin towel on 8 vehicles now after the "break in" period and I cannot believe how much hype goes into some products!

The towel is a bit more maneuverable than the Magna Sponge, but at the crazy ridiculous price difference I will stick with the Magna Sponge.

I have used Glide, BTW.

I just wanted to add that I do think the towel is a fantastic product and definitely has its place for decontaminating prior to polishing. I am looking forward to the newer more gentile version.

i got marring on a black maserati, I dont see how you guys are getting NONE on softer, or slightly harder paints. Its the same as when using clay, and you HAVE to polish afterward...otherwise you are just filling in the marring with a wax...

I always use the towel on glass first on each vehicle. This is the first vehicle where I can truly say 100% no marring. I believe this is the 4th or 5th vehicle we have used it on.

Have you tried it with Glide?

I had some marring on a white BMW- but not marring in the sense of lines or surface scratches. More like "ripples" or dimples. I do not nano and then wax anything so each time with any type of polish, it's removed in seconds, but the time vs. claying and effort is second to none!

$80 for a nano towel? Ouch! That is more than double the wholesale price- sorry, but that's true.

I also use it on glass first. I have done 4 black cars lately and all with the towel and then Hyper Polish or GPS. Best results I've ever had polishing---(I do not fancy myself as a great polisher) so I'm pretty excited about the results- followed with POXY on all of them.

For $80, I'll send you the towel, glide, and 4 of our MF towels! LOL
