My wife bought this home

excuse me, holy MONSTER OF swirls batman, i hate spelling, haha, anyways, you need to have a heart to heart with that dealer, that is horrible. Also, explore the possibility that maybe it had to be repainted (if its just that side) to possibly hide a really big defect ie they backed into the door or gashed it reel bad.

Depending on your state/location, autos (like other merchandise) me be returnable. If you are truly unhappy, look into getting your money back.

I don't know how knowledgeable you or your wife are with bodywork. But I'd make sure it was not repainted or an accident.

If you are keeping it, cut your losses and don't let the dealer fix it. Do it yourself or seek a professional detailer.

Wow that might be the worst swirlage I have ever seen. What the heck did the dealership do to that car?

Most dealerships have some kind of 30 day satisfaction policy.

I would love to see how well that could be fixed with some of the talent on this board.

Did you have to pay for that option;) ! Just kiddin man sorry to hear that I have an 03 True blue GT and had it prepped and it left hairline scratches from the dealer but I have since corrected them. I'd take it back that is bs I can't believe they would let it leave like that! And kick them in the Jimmy for me!

I could be wrong, but I believe there is a law where you have 3 days to return a car if you are not happy with it. I don't know for sure, I don't know if is a state or federal law either, I just heard it once. :)

Good luck with the swirled 'Stang. That is completely unacceptable.

RobertM,

You are referring to Buyer's Remorse Laws. They vary from state to state (we don't have Buyer's Remorse here in the Golden State :(--once you buy a car, it's yours).

To find out if a state has Buyer's Remorse, contact the Consumer Affairs Division of the State Attorney General.

ptim,

Good luck with those swirls. If you don't have a PC, invite friends over and have a Swirl Removal Party! ;)

This was a demo, it was was sold as a "new" car (03 Mustang GT), any tips on getting it to look better, by hand would be great.

I cant believe that the Dealership thought this car looked nice.

Absolutely disgraceful. Whoever did that should be strung up.:nono

Can we say....SCOTTWAX. Too bad your in florida...

Edit: I dont mean to offend any of you other pros out there, you all do great work, as seen from your results, he just popped into my head due to the ludicrous ammount of high end autos he gets to touch......Im envious

Hi ptim...

I'm curious, did you go down to the dealer with your wife to pick up the car? You actually let her bring a car home without you looking at it first?

I hope everything works out with the car. See if you can return it.

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

No, I wasnt with her, I signed all of the papers via FAX, I wouldnt have let her get it, if I had been with her. I hope I can talk her into getting a 05 Mustang.

I'd definitely take it back and demand they pay for the repairs (by a reputable detailer, not by someone who would try to hide them with glazes). If they give any hassle, munch your way up the food chain. I'd start with the Ford District Manager, and go up from there. I'd also let it be known to everyone you talk to that if the problem isn't corrected to your satisfaction, that various press agencies would know about it. Remind them how that will cut in to their bottom line. Contacting the BBB in your area could help if there have been other complaints, but don't hold your breath on that one.

Another thought would be to put a big sign on it with where you purchased it from. Something simple like "I bought this NEW at Joe's Ford". Then park it on private property (with owner's permission) right in front of the dealership. See how long it takes for them to make an offer.... Just make sure the sign doesn't have anything libilous on it (like "Joe's Ford are a bunch of swirl inducing idiots"). Saying where you bought something is not against the law.

Oh, and when they do offer to fix it, I'd make sure something was included for your troubles, like an extended warranty.

Jeez, I don't see the big deal. OK, the car has some hologramming. So what? Take them out! It's not that hard especially with a machine.

The wife bought a leftover '03 that's prolly been sitting on the lot for a long time. As long as the car had not been repainted I don't see a reason to take it back. I mean, its not like it has a blown engine or something.

If you can't fix this yourself then take it to someone who can. It's not that hard to do. I'm sure the wife got a great deal on the car so consider this part of the discount.

I'd like to think Autopians have the skills and knowledge to tackle something like this. Instead of freaking out, why aren't you guys working on the car?
