Fancy rims on a car that could use some rust repair isn't something that would appeal to me. And why have lower profile tires on a beater? Just more potential trouble when roads are crappy. I think it's good to have a beater car you don't have to baby over chuckholes and curbs :xyxthumbs

I figure, if the rust gets too bad I will buy new panels. A little trick to do on the rears is to get rid of that rubber/plastic fender well trim crap. It does nothing but hold water and dirt and salt. I think that helped some.
