Modern Day Batmobile (Corvette Z06) Lots of Pictures

Damn, I think it might be time to check out some 3M! The car looks deadly, great stuff!

What do you use for the body solvent wipedown? I am guessing that step is used to get rid of any possible remaining contaminants that were not caught by clay before polishing?

I wouldn't expect any less from you Rick! Totally amazing results!

The wheels are ok. Personally I would go with something that contrasts the car more instead of blending in with it (gun metal with a polished lip). :)

Thanks!

I appreciate it.

Thanks! You should definitely give Ultrafina a try. It is great stuff and super easy to use.

As for the body solvent, I use stuff from my local Kar Kraft supplier, but I heard that Hi-Temps Body Solvent is great stuff.

Yes, the wipedown is to remove anything that may be imbedded in the paint that could possibly interfere with the polishing process.

Yes, the black just seems to blend in with the rest of the car. I think that either gunmetal or "black chrome" would look really nice on the car.

The lowered suspension looks awesome, but is not very practical for the horrible roads here in New England.

As for the wheels, I agree. I don't particularly care for the red stripe.

The new Z06's are the baddest car for the money IMO.

Do you all make it down to Carlisle in August? Our group has been going since '01. Would be great to meet up. We have about 5 vettes in our group and about 100 beers. My buddy has an black 07 Z, stock for right now, but I have driven that car very hard and it always puts a smile on my face. Unless you have driven a C6Z, you have no idea what that car is like. SICK. You know what I mean!!

Great detail again. :up

Let me know about Carlisle.

I have never been able to make it down to Carlisle. I have always wanted to go, but I am just so busy detailing in the summer that I am not able to go. I've heard that it is an unbelievable time with tons of beautiful cars. maybe someday I will be able to make it down.

As for the new Z06's, they are truly an incredible car. Like you said, unless you have driven one, you have no idea how sick it is. Makes my 03' Z06 feel like it's broken!

Rick a 75hp dry shot would wake up your 03. My buddy has an 03 Z06 and a 08 Z06. Both cars run the same 1/4mile when he runs the 03 on N2O. He sprays the car all the time, not enough spray to do any damage to the motor.

As always Rick, great job. What do you think of the Collinite? Can you compare it to 476S? I'm thinking that one of the Collinites will be my next go to LSP.

As far as the wheels go, I'd probably like them better without the red line, but you could paint that car pink and put those ugly daisy wheels on it, and I'd still drive it! :D

Rick, if you are a corvette guy....you need to attend the Corvettes at Carlisle show. You will not believe it. 82acres of Corvettes, Vendors, Swap Meet, etc. Its 3days of nothing but Corvette. I have been around Corvettes my whole life and the show is meca for me. Our group goes leaves Fri 5am and returns Sun pm. We all stay at a local hotel. I think last year there was around 10000 vettes in Carlisle for the weekend and about 3000 on the show field.

Seriously consider it, if you can swing it. You wont regret not working. Check out the website

Jokeman-

I actually sold my Z06 and bought a C4 to save some money, so no nitrous for me. I am definitely going to miss it, but once I sock some money in the bank, I will definitely be buying another one. My buddy had a stock Mustang that used a 75 shot of N20 at the track and used to pull some pretty impressive numbers. It's the cheapest go-fast mod you can buy.

Rob Tomlin-

Thanks Rob!

Thanks!

As for the Collinite, it is a highly underrated wax. It goes on fairly easy and comes off easy as long as you don't overapply it. Looks pretty decent on all colors, including black and lasts a long time. The only negative is that it will leave minor streaking after removing it. A quick wipedown with a spray detailer cleans it right up. Compared to the 476, it is a little easier to use and looks much better on dark color cars. The 476 is a bit too bright for darker colors.

2002 Z06-

Thanks!

Thanks Bryan!

I agree, black is definitely the most rewarding in the end.

So how was your vacation? Are you having detailing withdrawals yet? Ha,ha...

Scuba Stevo-

Thanks Steve!

I'll have to mention that to him.

I am definitely a Corvette guy. I am already on my 4th Corvette! Depending on how this summer goes, I may try to make it. Sounds like a great time! Thanks for the link. I will let you know if I plan on going and we could meet up.

Had a nice time and was up at 4am today, still trying to adjust back to the timezone change.

I am doing some painting on a project today, so that is lots of fun. :wall
