MetroVac Do you need the 8hp

I'm considering a car dryer.
I have Metrovac in mind.
Will the MasterBlaster 8hp be the preferred or will a vac n blow be sufficient.
I have seen some people selling or trading theirs. Do you feel they aren't worth the money?
I own a Sidekick but only use it around areas where water hides before polishing.
I have no intent on using it for anything other than drying though.

If I recall the master blaster requires more than 15 amps doesn't it? I thought I remember reading that somewhere.

i have a vac n blo portable and love using it to dry cars, yet I only use it to dry wheels and blow out all the hidden water like you already do. Would it work to dry an entire car? Sure, as long as it has some sort of LSP on it. Not the best for drying large unprotected panels though.

i second the idea of the DP turbo dryer. Seems like an excellent tool

Yes I would also consider the DP dryer.

I'll be able to power it from a 20a circuit if I go with the 8hp.
I just want a dryer to save time and works well .

I have the Metro Master Blaster and the DP Turbo Car Dryer. The only downside to the Metro Master Blaster is that it requires a 20 amp breaker. I only had 15 amp before and it kept tripping my breaker. Pretty much made the Master Blaster useless. Which was why I got the DP Turbo Dryer. The DP Turbo Dryer is 6.5HP and is pretty powerful. I ended up upgrading my breaker to 20 amp. Since upgrading I haven't used my DP Turbo Dryer.

Both are excellent dryers.

Have had the Master Blaster since it first came out years ago..

I really needed it in the rainy, cold, snowy, Pacific Northwest more than I will need it here in Northern California, but I am so glad to have it and will never use anything else.

I put it on the top shelf of one of my rolling carts with a long 12awg extension, and I can go anywhere around any vehicle with ease..

Nothing works better for drying out an engine and compartment after pressure washing it...
If you want to use it to blow out a bunch of crap from the Interior, it will do this very easily and quickly..

It really does get that last bit of water from behind moldings and places that will drip down and mess with you after your bring the vehicle into your Clean Room..

The people that make Metrovac are in New York and if you call them for anything, the Owner of the Company, a really nice man usually answers and really helps. He has sent me extra stuff many times, when I called and bought some things from them..
Really nice people...

I'm never selling mine..

Bottom Line, the Master Blaster really BLOWS !!!! :)

You will need an20 amp circuit. Had it installed for less than 120 bucks. All the electrician did was convert one of the existing outlets.
8hp allows for fast mostly complete drying in a single pass. Freshly lsp applied cars dry effortlessly. Cars with little or no lsp are a pita to blow dry even with 8hp.

It's a great tool and I wall mounted mine and got the 30 foot hose. Before that I did not use it much Bc it was a pain to hook up.

Thanks for the input everyone.
And thanks Paul!!!
I snatched up a Master Blaster Revolution from the Ebay deals.
Didn't want to tell anyone about the Metrovac stuff they added until I got mine.
It's my Christmas present to me.

Lol! That Master Blaster Revolution was a great deal! Enjoy it Shawn :)

I have the MasterBlaster Revolution with the 30 foot hose. It wants power. I have it on a dedicated 20a circuit and I love it. It'll run on 15 (I did) , but better not light another light bulb on that circuit!

Well I received my Master Blaster Revolution today.
Wow is all I can say.
I can't believe the air once you throw the second missile switch.
Now it's all boxed up again for a move in a week . I'll get to experience opening it for the first time twice.

What a deal from Autopia .

I think Autopia needs to change the name from
OPEN BOX DEALS
to OPEN BOX STEALS !!!

ShawnF350- Glad you like it, and I bet you're getting excited about the move.

You all squared away regarding its amperage requirements?

Can't wait to move.
Figures I have to deal with a winter storm before moving though. I thought i would escape without a scratch.

For the amperage requirements I'll give it anything it needs at the new house.
The panel is in the garage. Electrician by trade.
If it runs at 18a continuous, I may install a 30a circuit w/ a 30a receptacle so it never trips. Your really not supposed to exceed 80% of a circuits capacity by design. A 20a circuit really shouldn't exceed 16a. Or a 15a not to exceed 12a.

ShawnF350- Ah, OK...and thanks for the idea about a 30A circuit/receptacle, which I might oughta consider should I ever get around to upgrading.

And yeah, too bad winter's reving up right when you're getting ready to move.

It's night and day running it from 4hp to 8hp. I would suggest it.

^This!

When I use my masterblaster, I switch on one motor, let it ramp up... then switch on the other motor. This is to not draw too much current on ramp up, but in doing so I have experimented with how the 1 motor (4 HP) performs vs. both motors (8 HP), and it is a massive difference. I honestly wouldn't even consider trying to dry a car with the 4 HP version after knowing what the 8 HP version is like.
