Menzerna's New 106FA (pic)

I know on my own car, which has very soft paint, I can achieve pretty good correction using 106/RMG blend and a green Propel polishing pad-but my paint wasn't nearly as bad as the car in the first post was...and I am not intentionally messing up my paint to find out what sort of defect removal 106 is capable of!

Whether or not it is possible to make that level of correction and leave a nearly flawless finish using a light polish and a polishing pad, even of soft paint; seems to fall to the "I'd have to see it with my own eyes" catagory.

I also have been playing with the new super intense polish 3.01 and on rotory it works best on a polish pad, especially a megs polish pad. I did try it on a edge blue pad but seems to dry up quickly. The same as 106ff finishes better on lc or megs pads. :nixweiss

I have not tried it on the pc yet, but all I have is LC pads for the pc.

What specific problems were you having when using Menzerna with the Edge pads? I've been bouncing back and forth between buying the 5.25" CCS pads from Danase or the Edge system and pads. Lately I've been leaning towards the Edge system and had intended on using these with Menzerna and Optimum polishes. Now you've got me worried.

Since I've been thinking about mostly switching over the the Edge system, I had a short email exchange with Aaron at Dedication to Detail about this thread. He said that their pads have been tested by Menzerna Corporate and that they work well. I just received a couple of CCS pads I picked up from someone in the Trading Post partly so I could do a comparison before I make a "final" decision.

Hmm . . . I'd call up Menzerna and ask them yourselves. Two weeks when I spoke with Jeff he said the pad of choice to be used with the menzerna polishes are the LC CCS.

I'm definitely interested in hearing your feedback on this. You planning to compare them soon?

It's a little hard to give a straight answer to that question. Presuming the Edge and LC CCS white pads are supposed to be comparable, those are the only ones I of the same grade. I also have a blue Edge and a green CCS. I did a fairly thorough polish last weekend and applied a layer of LSP, but I can still find a little micromarring in full sunlight here and there. I'm not sure I'll have another opportunity to do serious polishing for awhile as my weekends are pretty well spoken for during the rest of May and I the lighting conditions I have in the evenings aren't as favorable.

Guys, I'm obviously a bit late to comment on this, but here goes anyway. I read the thread posted by CleanYourCar over at Detailing World, and, I may be blind ( :nervous: ), but I don't see where he says he achieved his results with "one pass". What he does say is:

"Menzerna PO106FA is the new version of PO106FF and the wait has definitely been worth it. This polish blew me away. The old version was my favourite polish before trying this. It just seemed to have more gloss, more cut and worked for ages (emphasis mine) with next to no dust."

Sure doesn't sound like "one pass" to me!

One passes' time can vary on the product. To me and others, one pass means you put product on the pad or car and work it till its gone. Then remove. Doesn't is if the 12 minutes or 12 days. That is one pass. Not just a quick left to right movement.

Understood, Justin. I just don't see where he makes that claim (however it's defined) in his write up.

Justin, wow, thats unbelievable. With a PC as well!

LOL, im still laughing at "no autogeek doesnt sell it either". i feel bad for ya sometimes!

You are right....I have been doing months of research on this also and watched and asked the pros which pads they use and they all say LC or megs polish pads. LC cutting pad via pc or megs polish pad via rotory. Look at polishedbliss.uk.com, cleanyourcar, and the head users Davekg, cupraclark, wxt51, etc... Those guys get way beyond excellent results with all the menzerna polishes.

Menzerna polishes are a little finicky and with the right pad they will scream gloss. I have been playing a lot with the 106ff, 85rd, 3.01, etc... Also on the rotory anything above the polish pad is overkill.

Good post Justin...I like this one!

Exactly..I call one pass working the polish till its done working..almost cleared..I used 106Ff and had some medium marring from winter and worked it with a CCS white pad till it just about cleared and the paint was glossed to the max and marring gone...

Speaking of which, I just found out that my local paint shop carried some of the meguiar's softbuff 6.5" pads, so I purchased one of the polishing pads and will be using it for this weekend's detail on a subaru forester :)

The 5" LC CCS danase pads work fine for my car as it has many small angled panels, but for something as large as a forester, I needed a larger pad.

Also looked at the megs burgundy cutting pad. It was softer than I thought it would be, so I think I might be picking one of those up as well if I decide to use powergloss.

Great! Can't wait to see the results. Subarus really shine when correction is done right. I love them. You have the new super IP aka 3.01 from detailersdomain.com right?

I have PO85RD, PO106FF, standard IP which is PO91L and powergloss (POS34A).

Opted not to get the 3.01 after reading the uk forums and talking to Menzerna USA.

Unfortunately the subaru is silver, so it'll be hard to capture any improvments on camera. I think his wife has a dark blue corolla that we might end up practicing on if we finish the forester early :)
