I've been using it for the past year and have been very happy with it. I'm a former Zaino user and just don't have the time I use to have detailing my 350Z. Although the price is an issue for me, I'm told a few other people to check out Blackfire. Similiar concept but easier to work with and holds up better. I haven't top it with another product. Again it more of a time issue lately. I have half a bottle left of FMJ and plan on trying Blackfire next.

I am also very interested in tis topic also. I am about to order some of it and I would like a few reviews.

From the few details I have seen with FMJ, if you prep right, the car looks absolutely amazing when you put a couple of coats of FMJ on. Especially on dark cars. I have never had personal experience with it though.

Well I've used. I was mainly wanting to see what others thought. I liked it. Went on smooth and thin. Took very little product to cover the car I was doing. Left one of the softest and slickest finishes I've seen. Gave a nice glow and made the flakes pop out. If the durability is there, this is a winner.

I too have used it... Nice product, easy to use and gives a very reflective finish as you'd expect from a sealent but for me it just lacked the depth of a quality carnauba and I've yet to find a sealent that I dont want to top - just my own personal tastes here though, as I know many prefer the more reflective shine of a sealent, I prefer the deprth and warmth of a carnuaba.

As for durability, this is where the product disappointed me - it was poor. One of the reasons I would use a sealent is for its durability, but FMJ didn't deliver here for me, easily outstripped in the durability stakes by 'nuabas like #16 and 476S. Again, just my experiences of the product here, but I also got far better durability from 1Z Glanz Wax for example.

All in all, yes a nice product and one of the best looking sealents - but durability poor and price too high for me, I'd rather spend the cash on a 'nauba like Victoria Concours :).

You're the second person I've heard mentioning lack of duribility. I'm beginning to think I made the right move trying my blackfire experiment. Initially I was going to try FMJ with a P21S top but once Blackfire came out with the wax/sealant mix I figured that was worth trying.

I understand that Blackfire is a close relative to FMJ and can't really provide much data yet relative to durability, however it does provide a nice warm shine when topped with the new wax.

I've also topped the new wax with sealant again to see what chances might be noticed but to date I ca see none.

I have usedit on car (New Subaru Impreza) and although the shine, slickness, etc was great, I also though durability was lacking. It was the easiest LSP to apply and even easier to remove.

I put a layer on a black pearl Impreza and topped with nattys blue. Perhaps I should have waited for the FMJ to cure before topping with Natty's? I just though durability was on the weak side.

I have used both and really did not find any difference in the amount of time to apply it but found Zaino to be more durable so I am not really sure how it is saving you time. The price was always a deterent for me too.

I too am interested in trying BF, their SSR works very well. Hopefully their sealant works as good.

Hate to agree with most everybody here but FMJ's hi-admission price and its lack of durabilty turned me off on the product. Used it exclusively for 6-months when it was offerred initially by CMA, but then gave up on it for Collinite and then eventually Zaino..

FMJ does go on easy and comes off easier. It has a nice warm carnauba glow to it and is very slick but these characteristics last only a few washes in good ol' New England weather. For a sealant there are much better performing products.

Dave,

Your words have really captured my thoughts as well. Although, I can't really agree with your comment on durability simply because I never let my LSP sit long enough to test it to any significant degree. The look of FMJ though reflective with a extremely slick finish is not what I prefer and everytime I used it I would end up using a carnauba topper. It is of course also really expensive and really easy to use. In the end, it wasn't the right product for me.

I did a side-by-side comparison of FMJ with Meguiar's #20, #21, and #26. I liked the look of FMJ the best and it is what I'm currently using.

After using it for 2 years I still have 1/3 of a bottle left. Seems to last 2-4 months. Great slickness after 2 coats, though that only lasts a month tops. Aboslutely the easiest to use except the sprays. Beads better than AIO+SG. Shine is similar to 1Z Glanz Wax, at least on my yellow car which granted is pretty forgiving. I have topped with Menz HGAS (expensive) and EO WAUD, which works just as well but lasts 1-2 weeks tops. Will top with OCW next. In the spring will try OPS topped with OCW or AJT.

I get a full 3 months out of it, and I have yet to find anything that adds a slickness like this stuff. Including Zaino. Water just sheets right off of it. I dont think the price is that steep. A very large bottle 32oz for $25 or so is not that bad. Maybe it was $30.

What is the best product to maintain that finish? I have heard tha the FMJ doesn't last very long. Is it best to use HGAS? AquaWax (AW), Z8, Sonus Acrylic? I am just curious as to what woul dlook the best with it and last the longest.

Wow I am at the middle of month 6 of my fmj and 50/50 combo. I am really quite pleased with them both. As for FMJ by it's self yeah, i think it takes a severe hit when up agains PNW rain and grime. The thing that seems to effect it most is the liquid deicer that the county puts on our roads every time it is about to go below freezing. even then a light wash with a detail spray buff bring slickness back greatly.

I think it is considerably more durable than ex-p. I am waiting to see what jeff werkstatt's products are like in comparison.

the easiest on/off product I have used. Durability? Again that is a subject that is largely up to what the user is comfortable with, and their surrounding enviroment. I loved it, but it is a beauty sealant...not the kind of product you are gonna trust to 2 weeks of salt clinging to your paint, in unwashable temps. But if you live in a area with a mild climate, it is a good, fast bang for the buck !!!!

FMJ gave me a good 4 months durability over Klasse AIO. Slickness starts to wane at the 2 month point but appearance and beading hold up a lot longer.
