Meguiars NXT Tech or Pinnacle Souveran - please help?

So for 5 years I've used Pinnacle Souveran on my red S2000 and have sworn by it as the best possible wax one could use. Recently I sold the S2000 and bought a 2005 Boxster S - red of course. When I picked the car up I was really impressed with the detailing job. The paint looked fablous. I've washed the car 3 times and the paint still looks as good as the day I picked it up. I spoke with the dealership and their detailer uses Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.

So, I'm torn. Should I use what I've trusted for 5 years - Pinnacle Souveran or give this Meguiars NXT Tech Wax a shot. Anyone else used both products?

Which should I use? Price doesn't matter. Please help.

Different leagues, IMO. Try them side-by-side for a period and see what suits you best.

Different leagues ok, is it safe to assume that Pinnacle Souveran is better (price

excluded)?

I would say that you would get much better depth with Pinnacle Souveran. The trade off between the Souveran and the NXT is going to be durability. The Souveran will be less durable. NXT IMO will also be more reflective but with less depth.

In my experience, the durability isn't too different. I've gotten 7+ weeks out of Souveran and about the same for NXT.

why not use both! NXT topped with Souveran. Best of both worlds

I want to spend my time driving the Porsche not waxing it ;)

I'm leaning towards sticking with Souveran. Durability isn't an issue because the Porsche is a garage queen. She only goes out in nice weather.

Souveran, no question. NXT isn't bad, but Souveran is the single best wax on the market.

P.S. a properly prepped car will look good with any wax on it. It might look great with NXT, but it'll look even better with PS.

If you want better durability and a lower price, with nearly the same look, try liquid Souveran.

Hmmm... Isn't it the case that Souveran in paste form is more durable than Souveran in liquid form? This is due to the solvent content, right?

Back to the topic. Since you can obviously afford Souveran, I say stick with it. I wish I could afford a Porsche :D

I really like Souveran. I only use it on special occasions, lol! But since I now have a white car, I don't use it as much. It was my choice wax for my old Integra GS-R and Prelude Type-SH, both Nighthawk Black Pearl. I tried NXT last summer on my girl friend's car, it looked nice, but didn't give me that certain pop. I should have given it another go, but I'm probably too judgmental with the first impressions :nixweiss

If price doesn't matter, I'd stick with Souveran. I think it's just the best wax out there aside from the extremely $$$ Zymol Estate Glazes(IMO not worth the $ for that extra 1-2%). But I would also suggest picking up some NXT...the stuff is cheap and easily found locally. Play around and do a head to head. If nothing else it'll be fun.

The Boxster S is a fun car. My buddy's dad has one as well as a 928. He's the one that had the Zymol Destiny, on the 928. Do yo miss the S2000? I almost bought one in red but opted for my WRX since I'm in snowy MA.

I'm a Souv lover, but I use NXT more often. I don't know why. I think it's because I've decided the Souv is so expensive that it's "rare" and I'm trying to conserve it.

I think Souv's rep for lack of durability is misapplied. I get decent carnauba style durability out of a double coat. But the look is so intense the first week or two, just so fiery; THAT is what fades, not the wax itself. The "glow" fades. But the stuff smells so good, I'd like to apply it every other day!

Liquid Souv is not in the same league, IMO. I know that there are some liquid Souv devotees here; for me it's just another quality liquid wax, the same as Stuf or whatever. Not a BAD wax, just not distinctive. I used it on my toolboxes and refigerator and the like, and then I finally gave it away.

Try hitting your local Autozone and see if they have any Meguiar's #26. It is also an AWESOME product on red, and has the extra bonus of ringing up for one cent, while supplies last.

The lighting is different, I got lucky with the second one and it is my favorite picture of my car, the one that is my "showoff" pic. But the Souv picture is is pretty dang good, too.

The 2005 Boxster S is such a fun car to drive, completely different feel than the S2000. My S2000 has been gone now just under a week and I do miss her. I bought it new back in 1999 and had it for 5 years so I had a certian attachment to the car. I didn't want to part with it, but the wife refused to have 2 cars in the garage that she couldn't drive. :)

I too live in MA and my S2000 would go into hibernation late September and re-emerge in the Spring when the roads were cleaned up. The Porsche will be just as much of a garage queen, perhaps a bit more. :)

Back on topic, I've decided to stick with Souveran wax.

Here are two pictures. The first is my S2000 with Souveran after it was washed 3 or 4 times:

The second picture, is the Porsche with a coat of Meguiars NXT (from the dealer) after it's been washed 3 times:

I think Souveran does give more depth to the paint (bear in mind the S2000 is 5+ years old too). I'll be eager to see what it does on the Porsche when the I give it a try - maybe this weekend.

Count me in as being a Souveran lover too! I love the Vanilla Moose/Souveran combo. However, here's some other combos that look great. Try VM/ DP Max Wax or VM/Butter Wet Wax. ( I've been extremely impressed with the Chemical Guy's products, btw)

My choices would have been with NXT for a darker red than AOI and topped with Meg's #16 or Collinite's 845IW for an abrasion barrier. Souveran is a pretty wax with no real protection IMHO.
