Meguiar's Endurance revisited

I used to use Endurance, but at some point I tried the high-gloss version of it, hated it, and just sort of stopped using any of it. I started using #40 and really liked it but didn't like using it up. Then I tried Gold Class Rubber and Vinyl Protectant (to use it up because I totally hated it on interiors, which is why I bought #40 in the first place), and I really hate that stuff. It looked nice on tires, but it's real greasy and the applicators would start to build up this silicone grime that would ooze out all over my hands. It ruined tire apps quite quickly. Anyway, I think it sort of stuck in my mind that Endurance did this too (the high-gloss sure did) and so the regular Endurance just sat on the shelf. When contemplating using #40 again, I decided to try out Poorboy's Natural Look since I have more of it. Well, it looks awesome and I've been using it for a bit now.

For some reason or other, though, I started noticing the regular Endurance bottle sitting there in the garage (I gave away the high-gloss one) and started thinking about why I stopped using it. Really, I guess I couldn't think of a good reason so I tried it out again. One thing I noticed was that it's really hard to spread it around. You either have to use a ton, or else it stickies up and is very hard to get complete coverage. So I started thinking... What would I do if a sealant were hard to spread? Well, I'd spray the app with something to help it out. So I sprayed the app with just a little #40 and then put the Endurance on it as usual. Man what a difference. It spread much more easily and the tires look great! They have the same satin shine appearance that the Poorboy's had, but it seems to be holding up a lot better. Plus, Endurance is supposed to be better on tires since it has a lot of antiozonants in it. So far I'm pretty pleased and may buy another bottle. :xyxthumbs

So far I've been using Stoners MSLT and spray that on the tire applicator and spread. Works very well.

The other item used, 303 for the engine bay, I heard from another fellow that they use it on the tires with very good resuts.

Another Megs product, EK, I now just use in wheel wells and the underside. The suspension and skid pads all look new still. Dealership asked if I flip the car over to detail it :D

I didn't like the Endurance stuff as well.

I like a technique I think FordF150 came up with...303 base with Endurance as a topper. The Endurance is easy to spread on 303'ed tires which aren't hungry for moisture. :up

Sounds like a very good idea. I have plenty of 303 and was considering revisiting Endurance for use as a topper just to prolong the shine some more after bad weather. Hope this will do the trick!

i use meguiars endurance and notice it's a pain to clean the tires when i do a wash, what do you guys clean your tires with in between your endurance applications? i've been using wesley's but would like something that makes a little more suds.

I've been using All Purpose Cleaner Plus for some time now on tires. I use it at 8 or 9:1. It works well and doesn't seem harsh at all. It doesn't really suds, though... I wash the tires about once a month or two unless they get some particular dirt on them.

am still using the zaino tire product and like it. Z18? Havent tried anything else yet. I know I hate the 303 glossy look tho. Sort of like armorall which I also think looks yukk.

303 glossy look?? I use it and I find it fairly matte. Makes the tires look brand new with a hint of gloss. Maybe its just my tires. Everything I've read about 303 indicates its givres more of a matte finish. :nixweiss

Z18 is the clay from Zaino. I was reaching for it and got the Souveran Paste instead. That's when I decided to try it. Glad I did!!

I just reapply. Been some time since needed to scrub them real good first. My other white wall tires sometimes need spot cleaning if brakedust forms black lines on the white. Some APC+ would usually do the trick.

If you apply 303, or whatever, and then Endurance wouldn't the Endurance being sitting on top of the 303 ? It seems to me you would want the Endurance to adhere to the actual tire. I use Endurance and like the results but yes it is a bit difficult to apply.

I just go ahead and clean my tires every time because I hate the idea of dirt and gunk building up. That Endurance does have a habit of gettin a little dirty.

I clean my tires everytime I wash because it's usually more than a week since I've washed the car. It also doesn't take that much more time. I figure if I have to clean the wheels, might as well clean the tires as well.

As I understand the idea behind putting Endurance or any other type of tire dressing as a topper on the 303 would be the 303 blocks any potentially harmful ingredients in the other tire topper from seeping into the tire. ( 303 is supposed to be the safest product you could put on tires) I would also assume in bad weather the topper would fade or wash off but the 303 would still be left behind making the tires still appear decent after.

Is this an accurate assumption?

I really like 303 on my tires. I have a white car with grayish silver hubcaps. I don't want to make my hubcaps stand out, so I keep my tires clean and black and 303'd. Leaving the shine on my white paint to stand out a little more. 303 makes my tires look nice and black with very little gloss. But after trying it on other cars with nice wheels, I felt it need a little more ump and shine..303 also being pretty expensive, I had to try Eagle One Wet, Tried it on red car, black car, and white car, IF you have nice wheels and what to draw a little attention to them, EO Wet has a very nice shine, and after a few a week look similar to 303 anyways. I liked it so much I started using it on my car. I used the foam tire swipes and wipe them down a few times, this really help with application.

I'll have to try 303/EO Wet

Does EO Wet contain any cleaners that will remove the 303?:lol

Yeah probably, the ingredients in the kind of dressing like the EO might strip the 303 so the gloss will only be coming from the EO

303 has such a nice matte/satin look on my dash. I would never waste it putting it under another dressing. My tires don't need that much protection. They will soon be replaced before the sun does damage. But my dash definitely needs it.:D

Bill D, how do you like APC for wheel cleaning? I was thinking about picking some up for wheels, wheel wells, tires ect. The A2Z works pretty well but is burning a hole in the wallet.

I have used High Endurance in the past and just find it ridiculous to apply since its a gel. Water based is great. Maybe I need to re-address the problem by stripping everything and trying this new technique. Still hate High Endurance....

SilvaBimma,

Yeah, I really hate it too, might the all time worst product I ever tried

Even more economical: just use car wash, this means washing more often and sealing the wheels with something like Mothers Clear Coat wheel Polish to retard brake dust.

For wheel wells specifically you could buy castrol Super Clean at wal Mart for $6 a gallon and dilute it to whatever ratio you like.
