Lurking for awhile... this hobby is my new obsession

I went from daily driving a 2011 Wrangler to a 2015 WRX. I think I may have washed the Jeep 5 times over these past 4 years. It just looks good dirty. Now that I have the WRX, I want to keep the soft paint as pristine as possible. My friends and family think that it is strange that a girl has become so obsessed with car detailing. I find it to be therapeutic.

I have been using the following:

Bucket and Grit guard x 2
Microfiber wash mitt x 2
Autosmart quick detailer
Autosmart APC
Duragloss 111
Duragloss AquaWax
Meguiars clay bars
Rolling utility cart (LOVE it)
Rolling detailing stool
303 Aerospace Protectant
Boars Hair detailing brushes
Rubber brush to pick up hair
36 pack of MF towels from Costco
CG glass waffle towel
Stoners glass cleaner
Speedmaster wheel brush
GG DA polisher (6") - haven't used it yet
BlueMagic metal polish and #0000 steel wool for the exhaust
Absorber drying towel (I thoroughly rise it before every use to make sure it is clean of debris)

Products I will be switching out once they are done, mainly just to try new stuff:

Meguiars Hot Rims cleaner (I will get some Iron X)
CG 5050 paste wax (works fine, but I want to try a liquid wax next, like Collinite 845)
Eagle One tire shine (not really happy with it)

Products I will get in the future:

Some sort of trim restorer - thinking about GTechniq C4
Electric blower
Duragloss 601
foam gun
Meguiars MF polish kit - 4 MF pads and compounds.

Thanks for all the information I have been absorbing and I look forward to seeing all of your before and after pictures.

welcome to AF. I have the gg6 also and like it. personally, I like using foam pads vs. microfiber.(larger selection of different pads available). meguiar's m105 and m205 are a good choice for an initial compound and polish.

Thanks for all of the "Welcomes" guys.

The guy who owns the local detailing supply company that I go to said the same thing. I am probably going to stick with foam pads.

a female, drives a WRX, and obsessed DETAILING... the moons have aligned

welcome to autopia

I do love my WRX, but some kid slammed into me a couple of days ago. Now I have to wait for it to get fixed, then 30 days for the paint to cure... I think I am going to have to test the DA polisher on someone else's car to get it out of my system B)

Welcome!

You've get more patience than most of us. Most of us don't wait to finish using a product before trying something new...

You do not help the situation. Every time I see one of your posts on Reddit I get the urge to buy new stuff.

Half the time, I haven't even opened the boxes yet before I order something new

Half the time? Should give an award for that sort of patience for anyone that's been around here for a while.

Trust me... it is getting more and more difficult to keep my wallet in my pocket.

Welcome to Autopia!

I'm in the "wait for paint to cure" camp, but I've recently switched from using glazes (on fresh paint) to using Optimum Car Wax. It's approved by Ford for use on "post-production paintwork" and IME it does not interfere with the curing/outgassing process. Quick and easy too.

Thanks! I will look into that :)
